- Temple of the Golden Buddha (Wat Traimit) - Located in Bangkok’s Chinatown, Wat Traimit is a royal temple renowned for its massive gold Buddha statue.
Officially named Wat Traimit Withayaram Worawihan, and also known as “The Temple of the Golden Buddha,” it houses the large solid gold Buddha statue called Phra Phuttha Maha Suwan Patimakon, depicting the subduing Mara mudra. It is the largest solid gold Buddha statue in the world.
For many years, the true identity and value of the statue were unknown until it was accidentally discovered in the 1950s that it was made of solid gold. The statue stands over three meters tall, weighs nearly five and a half tons, and is estimated to be around 700 to 800 years old. It is the largest solid gold Buddha statue in the world.
- The Grand Palace - Situated in Bangkok’s old city along the Chao Phraya River, the Grand Palace is a must-see site in Thailand. This complex is one of the country’s most famous landmarks, offering stunning buildings and sacred sites.
History of the Grand Palace
The Grand Palace is a magnificent complex of buildings of great significance. Construction began in 1782 when King Rama I decided to move the capital.
The complex is surrounded by 1,900-meter-long walls and includes royal residences, throne halls, and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. It served as the center of government and the Royal Court, becoming the heart of the Kingdom.
The Grand Palace was the official residence of Thai Kings until the reign of King Chulalongkorn at the end of the 19th century.
- Chinatown - Bangkok - Bangkok’s Chinatown is the largest in the world and arguably one of the best to visit. While many countries have Chinatowns, none compare to Bangkok’s; here, you’ll discover what makes it so unique.
- Pak Khlong Talat (Flower Market) - Pak Klong Talad translates to ‘market at the mouth of the canal.’ The way Thai is translated into English means you might see alternative spellings on maps for the market, such as Pak Khlong Talat. In Thai, ‘pak’ means mouth, ‘klong’ means canal, and ‘talad’ means market.
- Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) - The Temple of The Emerald Buddha is specifically designed to house a statue of the meditating Buddha seated in a yogic posture, made from a single piece of green jade, adorned in gold and diamonds, and elevated above the heads of worshipers and tourists as a sign of respect.
The Emerald Buddha Temple is beautifully surrounded by courtyards featuring countless majestic and inspiring examples of exquisite Royal architecture through the ages. A must-visit and pilgrimage.

Temple Of Dawn (Wat Arun) - Wat Arun, known as the Temple of Dawn, is one of Bangkok’s most iconic landmarks. Its standout feature is a massive prang (Khmer-style tower) that is about a hundred meters high.
It is adorned with thousands of pieces of porcelain that were used as ballast on ships trading between Siam and China. Visitors can climb the tower for a lovely view of the river and nearby buildings, though the steep climb may deter some. The surrounding grounds are pleasant, with attractive murals and fierce mythical guardians. - Wat Phra Chetuphon - Wat Pho, officially named Wat Phra Chetuphon Vimolmangklararm Rajwaramahaviharn, is a first-grade royal monastery, considered the most important during the reign of King Rama I of the Chakri Dynasty. Its significance is due to the King overseeing the restoration of Wat Phodharam, an old monastery from the Ayudhya period, and re-establishing it as the royal monastery near the Grand Palace. Some ashes of King Rama I are also kept under the pedestal of the principal Buddha image known as Phra Buddha Theva Patimakorn in the main chapel.
