- K. Panich Sticky Rice - The first Michelin food stop is at Kor Panich Mango Sticky Rice, a renowned establishment since 1932, famous for its delectable mango sticky rice. Originally, this unique dish and recipe were served to Thai royalty. Founded by Kaap and his wife, the shop’s sticky rice recipe was passed down from her mother, who worked in the royal palace kitchen.
The perfectly ripe mangoes are incredibly juicy, placed on a bed of warm sticky rice, topped with creamy coconut milk lightly flavored with sugar and salt. A sprinkle of fried mung beans adds an extra crunch, creating a perfect dish. The restaurant, typical of the area, has limited seating, offering a unique experience of dining on a wooden chair by the roadside amidst the bustling traffic of cars and tuk-tuks.
- Pad Thai Fai Ta Lu @Dinso Rd - The next stop is Pad Thai Fai Ta Lu, a Michelin-starred restaurant for the past five years. Guests are greeted with an impressive fire show from the kitchen’s ring-burner. Watching the chef prepare glass noodle dishes with fire and smoke is captivating. The distinctive cooking style imparts a rich, smoky flavor, thanks to a well-balanced tamarind paste and the deep flavors of the smoky wok. The menu’s highlight is the Pad Thai with Berkshire pork neck, which is simply delicious. The meal is enjoyed upstairs in the restaurant’s unique setting.
- Rattanakosin (Bangkok Old City) - Bangkok’s Old Town, also known as Rattanakosin, boasts some of the city’s most stunning and revered landmarks. Traveling by tuk-tuk, you’ll pass by beautiful monuments such as the Grand Palace, Giant Swing, Democracy Monument, and The Metal Castle.
- Krua Apsorn @Dinso - This classic Thai kitchen, recommended by Michelin, is a hidden gem despite its modest exterior. The dishes are unique, featuring the family’s secret recipes, some of which have been served to the Thai royal family. The stir-fried pork with bird’s-eye chili is tender and bursting with herbal aromas. Additionally, their signature yellow curry with large prawns and crispy lotus root strikes the perfect balance of sour, spicy, and sweet.
- Chinatown / Yaowarat - The tour continues to Yaowarat, also known as Dragon Street, one of Bangkok’s most vibrant neighborhoods. Bangkok’s expansive Chinatown is full of energy and is one of the city’s most captivating areas.
This area is a paradise for tea enthusiasts. Sampling herbal tea here ensures the highest quality. Try the Chrysanthemum tea for a refreshing and cooling experience.
A visit to a small stall called Pa Tong Go Savoey is a must. Serving Thai fried donuts in Yaowarat for over four decades, it has earned a place in the Michelin Guide. Experience the delightful combination of Chinese deep-fried dough with a gooey sweet sauce. Besides frying, they grill it to achieve a crispy exterior. It’s highly recommended to dip it in the delicious sweet pandan sauce.
*Please note that Chinatown is closed on all Mondays, and alternative food tastings will be arranged elsewhere.
At the conclusion of your Michelin food tasting and exploration, the tour ends, and your Tuk Tuk driver will safely return you to your Bangkok hotel.
