This temple holds the status of a first-class royal monastery and is considered the most significant during King Rama I’s rule of the Chakri Dynasty. Its prominence stems from King Rama I’s efforts to renovate Wat Phodharam, a dilapidated monastery from the Ayudhya era, and reconstitute it as a royal temple in proximity to the Grand Palace. Remnants of King Rama I are enshrined beneath the base of the main Buddha statue, named Phra Buddha DevaPatimakorn, situated in the primary hall. Wat Pho stands as a notable point of interest in the Ko Rattanakosin district, offering visitors a glimpse into the exquisite Buddhist art and the enduring wisdom of Thailand, which is considered a timeless vocational heritage.
