A visit you can't miss - The guided tour of the castle is totally worth it. A Muslim fortification preserved to this day on the guided tour helps you better understand a piece of our history and then you can not miss visiting the baroque rococo dressing room of the Christ of the Plains. You'll be surprised.

Great Tourism La Encina - A beautiful and very interesting visit. The visit to the hermitage of Christ of the Plain is a must. Chema, the guide made it very enjoyable.

Storytelling - The village is beautiful with a lot of charm to lose you through its streets, has several places of interest, but the castle is mandatory stop and the Tour Guide who tells you the traces that history has left on it, is great. A great Pro, you can tell he loves his job and the village that saw him grow up.
We made a small excursion, we will return in spring to enjoy the other points of interest that the village has.

Great experience - We visited the Castle and the Hermitage, both professionals explained everything perfectly in detail and open to any doubt. Very attentive and friendly. We came away from both. A great experience and above all precious both monuments.

Unknown places to discover - We visited the castle of Baños de la Encina and the Hermitage of Jesus the Plain (although the plain is a heavy joke) with its baroque dressing room. We loved it, we discovered very interesting and unknown things about our geography. The local guides are fantastic and explain the history of their village with pride and good work.
Recomendable 100%

The oldest castle in Spain - It stands out in Baños de la Encina the Castle of Burgalimar, dominating the village skyline from its hill, with robust and crenellated wall with fourteen towers, plus a fifteenth or Torre Cristina del Homage. The castle was built in 968 by order of Caliph Al-Hakam II, known as Bury al-Hamma, and was definitively conquered by Ferdinand III in 1225 after several seizures by Alfonso VII, VIII and other kings, hence its nickname "Castle of the Seven Kings". It was damaged in the War of Independence and served as a cemetery until 1828; today it has been a National Monument since 1931. It is considered the oldest castle in Spain.

Guide Susanna, very well - At first, days before the visit, the boy who attended us very nice.
But the same day as the visit... a little edge.
It is true that arriving later than agreed, we were a large group and had hired a guide, and if being a group is sometimes difficult to meet schedules. We still kept you informed at all times about the arrival time.
I think he should improve that attitude with people, so he will feel better about himself.
Taking this away, the care days before was good, advising us how to make the visits.
The guide, Susanna, very well. Attentive to our time needs, as he had to shorten the visit for us.
It really made us a very interesting visit.

Prettier on the outside than on the inside - From the outside it is impressive because it retains the entire wall and the tower but inside it has nothing to do and is not worth the €4 that free admission costs. I understand that they charge 1-2€ for maintenance and whatnot but 4€ for what you will see (in 5mins) seems to me an abuse.

Improper treatment of tour operator - We have just seen the castle of Baños de la Encina and it has been spectacular, worth a stop to see. Guide José Manuel explained the highlights and then made a free visit. The company that carries out the sightseeing tours is the one that unfortunately overshadowed our final impression since the person who has attended us at the tourist office with whom I could not contact by phone only by WhatsApp sent me a message with a link to make the reservation of the guided tour of the castle charging a price with management costs and without explaining in the message the possibility of being able to buy the cheapest ticket at the door of the castle and without expenses. When I went at the direction of the person selling the tickets to explain what happened the deal has been unpleasant from my point of view without giving me clear explanations of what happened just told me that he clearly stated on the website that he personally carries that there is discount in the online booking, the link he has sent me does not put it anywhere if on the website, and that he would not discuss it because he carried it. I told him I didn’t want to discuss it I just wanted him to give me back the difference between what I had paid and what other people paid at the castle ticket office and the management costs they charged me because they didn’t give me a choice in the message he sent to buy it there. He agreed to refund the difference without the management costs and when he told me that it did not seem fair because of the lack of information that I explained before he told me that he made a full refund of the visit without the management costs. I replied that I did not want to make a free visit only that it seems to me that since I could not speak on the phone in the message sent I should explain the other options of purchase of the reservation. And it is a shame his final comment "if I have returned the full amount I do not know what you are complaining about"...
