These 20th-century sculptures, crafted using letters from Joan Brossa’s artistic alphabet in 1992, consist of six bronze and one aluminum piece that spell out Barcino, the city’s name before it became Barcelona.
• Placa del Rei - Plaça del Rei, or Plaza of the King, is a tranquil Medieval square nestled in the heart of el Gotico. • MUHBA Temple d’August - These awe-inspiring columns from the 1st Century BC are remarkable in both size and history. Located in a peaceful courtyard in the Jewish Quarter, the four monoliths were discovered entirely by chance in the 19th century. Standing nine meters (nearly 30 feet) tall, the columns were part of a much larger temple dedicated to Emperor Augustus.
• Pont del Bisbe - The age of this stunning arch-bridge might surprise you, and its hidden secrets could give you a bit of a thrill! Although its style is ornately gothic, it was actually constructed in 1928 by architect Joan Rubio, a friend and disciple of Antoni Gaudi.
