- Montserrat Mountains - Montserrat is a rugged mountain situated 50 km southwest of Barcelona. It is regarded as the most significant and important mountain in Catalonia. The name Montserrat is derived from the Catalan words Mont (mountain) and serrat (serrated).
The mountain’s significance is linked to the legend of the miraculous appearance of the Madonna and Child in one of the caves, known as Santa Cova (The Holy Cave). The wooden carving of the Madonna and Child is preserved in the monastery’s church and is accessible to visitors. This depiction of the Madonna is affectionately called La Moreneta (The Black Madonna) due to its dark color.

- Infants travel free provided they do not occupy a seat
- Note that the La Escolania children’s choir does not perform in the afternoon
- Correct dress code is requested to enter the Basilica at Montserrat. It is not permitted to enter with tank tops, strapless shirts, short shorts or sandals
- The duration of the tour includes the round trip to the destination.
- Queues to see the Black Madonna may occur depending on season.
- The Cable car facilities are not adapted for people with reduced mobility. In this case, it will be necessary to make the reservation with the ascent to Montserrat by the cog-wheel train.

Beautiful Monserrat! - This was a great tour with Ivan and Valeria. Please let others know the meeting place is downstairs in the bus terminal and that the weather can be chilly and changeable on the mountain. Overall it was a wonderful tour and the funicular views were extraordinary!!

Very enjoyable even with the hike - We seemed walk hills more than I thought we would. But it was well worth the effort. Our guide made the tour very pleasant and gave us the right amount of free time to explore on our own.

Fantastic tour with a wonderful guide! - Everything about the Montserrat tour was excellent! Our guide, Miriana, was amazing—very kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. She made sure we didn’t miss any important spots and shared fascinating facts and stories about Montserrat. The whole experience was very pleasant and memorable. Highly recommended!

Excellent guided tour to Montserrat. - Valeria our tour guide was excellent. She spoke in English and Spanish! Our driver, Roberto drove us expertly up and down the mountains very well. Valeria gave us much information about the abbey , the Benedictines and the Monserrat Madonna. We highly recommend taking the tour as it provides directions to see the Madonna and other access we might otherwise have missed. We enjoyed the cog railway ride up the mountain too.

Monsterat - Beautiful trop to the monestry. Old but impressie. We went there in the morning. The best choice to go there, because of the vroeder of people.

Julia travel very poorly coordinated - It was so disappointing when we were so looking forward to seeing the monastery and the village tour, with cable cars or cog wheels train to reach the monastery.
We arrived early at bus station only to be told to wait as no register for 20 minutes. By the time I came back 15 minutes later there was a crowd of nearly 50 people all waiting to be registered on a very slow process. A group of people with no pre booked tickets held one counter for 10 minutes. We finally received our tickets and board the waiting bus only to be left inside for 30 minutes? No explanation given by the staff. We can see that the bus was overbooked as people were waiting but our bus was full.
Finally we started to drive only to be told that because of this delay we will miss out on the cable car/ train and the bus will take us straight to monastery so we missed seeing the village also.
The monastery was beautiful serene and wonderful. The tour operator wasn’t organised. We will never use this service again.
We were told on the way back to contact our original booking company to request refund, which we have emailed them.
This $ is not important but the missed experience is not good as we don’t have any time to go back.

No cable car ride - We showed up at 2:45 for our 3:00 tour.
I booked this tour for the cable car or cog wheel train ride up.
They overbooked.
We waited an hour in the exhaust filled bus station, until the next bus to show. Now it’s 3:45.
We loaded on the bus and Then we are told we have an hour bus trip up the winding mountain.
No cable car or cog wheel because it was “too late” for our timed tickets.
I did not sign up for a bus trip.
We then returned at 8:00 vs 7:00.
To give us “more time” in the cold rain to look around.
Thanks no thanks!
I’m waiting to hear back from Julia Travel for a refund. What a waste or time and disappointing afternoon.
