• Plaza de Catalunya - Plaza Catalunya is a central square in Barcelona, serving as one of the city’s main hubs.

It covers an area of 5 hectares and acts as a junction between Barcelona’s old town and the Ensanche district.

• Passeig de Gracia - Passeig de Gracia is a major avenue in Barcelona, bustling with commercial and business areas. It features significant examples of Modernist Architecture, such as Casa Batlló and La Pedrera by Antoni Gaudí, along with other works by renowned Catalan architects like Lluís Domènech i Montaner. These buildings are recognized as World Heritage sites by UNESCO.

The avenue is centrally located in the Ensanche district, connecting Plaza Catalunya with Calle Mayor de Gracia to the west.

• Manzana de la Discordia - Casa Lleó i Morera is a Modernist building designed by architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, situated at number 35 on Passeig de Gracia.
• Casa Amatller - Casa Amatller is a Modernist building next to Casa Batlló and near Casa Lleó i Morera. It was designed by architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch between 1898 and 1900.
• Casa Batllo - Casa Batlló is a building designed by Antoni Gaudí, a leading figure in the Catalan Modernist movement.

Constructed between 1904 and 1906, it is located at number 43 on Passeig de Gracia, in the area known as “Manzana de la Discordia” (literally “Block of Discord”). This name arose due to the concentration of modernist buildings by different architects: Casa Amatller, Casa Lleó i Morera, Casa Mulleras, and Casa Josefina Bonet.

• Casa Mila - La Pedrera - Casa Milà, commonly referred to as “La Pedrera,” is a Modernist building by Antoni Gaudí, built between 1906 and 1910.

It is one of Barcelona’s most visited buildings, attracting 20 million visitors since opening to the public in 1987.

• Placa Cinc D’Oros - Plaza del Cinco de Oros, formerly known as Plaza de Juan Carlos I, is located in the Ensanche District at the intersection of Diagonal Avenue and Passeig de Gracia.
• Basilica de la Sagrada Familia - The Sagrada Familia is a Catholic basilica designed by Antonio Gaudí.

Construction began in 1882 and is still ongoing. It is considered Gaudí’s masterpiece and one of Spain’s top attractions, being the most visited church in Europe after Saint Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.

Upon completion, it will be the tallest Christian church in the world.

• Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau - The Hospital de la Santa Cruz y San Pablo, designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner, is a modernist hospital.

Built between 1902 and 1930 in two phases: the first by Domènech i Montaner himself (1902 - 1913), during which 13 modernist buildings were constructed; the second by the architect’s son Pere, starting in 1920, who added 6 more buildings with a milder modernism.

With its main building and numerous pavilions, the Hospital de San Pablo, along with the Instituto Pere Mata in Reus (also by Domènech i Montaner), is one of the greatest modernist complexes in Catalonia.

Although the original project was not fully realized, its significance was recognized with numerous awards and it was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1997.

• Parc Guell - Parc Güell is a public park with gardens and various architectural elements located in the upper part of Barcelona.

Originally conceived as a residential complex, the park was designed by Antoni Gaudí, a leading figure in Catalan Modernism, commissioned by businessman Eusebi Güell.

Constructed between 1900 and 1914, it was inaugurated as a public park in 1926.

Parc Güell showcases Gaudí’s artistic maturity: this work belongs to his naturalist period (first decade of the 20th Century), a time when the architect refined his personal style inspired by the organic shapes of nature.

In Parc Güell, Gaudí employed his architectural genius and implemented many of his innovative structural solutions, which later became characteristic of his organic style and culminated in the Sagrada Familia.

• Casa Vicens - Casa Vicens is a modernist building located on Calle de las Carolinas 18-24 (Gracia District).

Designed by Antoni Gaudí, it was his first significant project after earning his architecture degree in 1878.

Constructed between 1883 and 1888, when Casa Vicens was built, Gracia was still independent from Barcelona with its own city hall, considered a village. Today it’s part of Barcelona.

This building belongs to Gaudí’s orientalist period (1883 - 1888), during which he created works with a distinct oriental influence, inspired by Middle Eastern and Far Eastern art (India, Persia, and Japan), as well as Islamic Hispanic art, primarily Mudejar and Nasrid styles.

The building was declared an Official Asset of Cultural Interest on July 24, 1969, and a World Heritage site in 2005.

• Monastery of Pedralbes - The Real Monasterio de Santa María de Pedralbes is a Gothic-style monument complex located in Barcelona.

The monastery area was originally walled. Today, only two watchtowers and two gates remain of its walls.

• Jardins Palau Reial Pedralbes - The Palacio Real de Pedralbes is a building situated in the middle of extensive gardens in the Les Corts district.

Between 1924 and 1931, it served as the residence of the Spanish Royal Family during their visits to the city.

Currently, the palace is closed to the public.

• FC Barcelona Official Store - Camp Nou - Camp Nou is a sports venue owned by Fútbol Club Barcelona, the city’s soccer team, located in the Les Corts district.
• Estacion De Barcelona Sants - Barcelona Sants, or simply Sants, is the main train station in Barcelona.

Inaugurated in 1979 after a lengthy construction, it is Spain’s second main train station, following Madrid-Atocha.

Its long and medium-distance services, using both the traditional train network and the high-speed network, connect Barcelona with various national and international destinations.

Sants handles most of the city’s Cercanías traffic. The station is served by the R1, R2, R3, and R4 lines of Cercanías Barcelona.

The bus station located outside the station, directly in front of it, shares the same name as the train station.

• Parc de Joan Miro - Woman and Bird was the last major work by the versatile Joan Miró.

This artwork was inaugurated in 1983 without the presence of its creator due to health issues. He passed away a few months later at the age of 90.

Woman and Bird was one of the first expressions of public art in Barcelona during the democratic era.

Located in Parc Joan Miró, next to a large artificial lake, the sculpture is made of concrete and stands 22 meters tall.

It represents the feminine silhouette with a hat, and the bird is found on the hat. The representation of the woman is achieved through a hollowed-out shape covered in black ceramics, reminiscent of the shape of a woman’s genitalia, in the artist’s language.

The exterior of this sculpture is adorned with red, yellow, green, and blue colors (the artist’s most common palette) in trencadís (broken tile mosaics) and crafted by ceramist Joan Gardy Artigas.

• Placa d’Espanya - Barcelona’s Plaza España is one of the city’s most iconic locations.

It was constructed for the International Exposition of 1929, following a design by Puig i Cadafalch and Guillem Busquets, and completed by Antoni Darder.

It is a major traffic hub providing access to the Montjuïc area, where the Feria de Muestras and the Museo Nacional de Arte de Cataluña (MNAC) are situated.

Other notable buildings in the square include the Centro Comercial Las Arenas (a former bullring now a mall, designed in “neomudéjar” style, an Islamic-inspired style), as well as the Torres Venecianas, inspired by the famous belfry in Venice, built by Ramon Reventós for the International Exposition of 1929.

• Torres Venecianes - The towers providing access to the 1929 Exposition, known as “Torres Venecianas,” are two twin ornamental towers located at the intersection of Avenida de la Reina María Cristina with Plaza España.

The name “Torres Venecianas” is due to their resemblance to the belfry of Saint Mark in Venice.

Built by Ramon Reventós as the entrance to the International Exposition in Barcelona, they now serve as the entrance to the Montjuïc’s Fira Barcelona.

• The Magic Fountain - The Magic Fountain of Montjuïc was constructed for the International Exposition of 1929 by Carles Buïgas, on the site where the Four Columns by Puig i Cadafalch once stood.

In the 1980s, music was added to the fountain’s show, and just before the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, it was fully restored.

The fountain was also one of the external stages for the MTV Europe Music Awards 2002.

Since 2013, the Barcelona Campanadas (a New Year’s Spanish tradition) have been celebrated at this location.

• Poble Espanyol - Poble Espanyol is an open-air architectural museum located in Montjuïc, near the Magic Fountain.

The site contains 117 life-sized buildings representing a typical Spanish village, complete with streets, houses, squares, a theater, a school, restaurants, and artisanal workshops.

It was built for the International Exposition of 1929.

Initially, the site was intended to be temporary, lasting only for the 6-month duration of the Exposition, but its success has allowed it to remain intact to this day.

• Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya - MNAC - The Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC) is renowned for its Romanesque Art collection, considered one of the most comprehensive in the world.

Also known as the National Palace, it was constructed for the International Exposition of 1929.

• L’Anella Olimpica de Montjuic - The Olympic Ring is the name of the area and group of sports facilities located in Montjuïc, built or restored for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

It covers approximately 400 hectares.

• Palau Sant Jordi - Palau Sant Jordi is a multifunctional pavilion on Montjuïc.

Built for the 1992 Olympic Games, it was inaugurated in 1990.

It is considered the jewel of the “Anillo Olímpico de Montjuïc,” which also includes facilities such as the Estadio Olímpico and the Piscinas Picornell (Picornell Pools).

• Estadi Olimpic - The Estadi Olímpic is a sports venue located in Montjuïc.

The original stadium was inaugurated on May 20, 1929, by Alfonso XIII, a day after the International Exposition.

For the 1992 Olympics, the stadium was almost entirely rebuilt (1985-1989) and re-inaugurated 60 years later as “Estadi Olímpic” on September 8, 1989, by King Juan Carlos I.

Designed by Barcelona-based architect Pere Domènech i Roura, son of modernist architect Domènech i Montaner, it was intended to host future Olympics, which, after four applications, finally came to Barcelona 63 years later.

• Montjuic Castle - Montjuïc Castle is an old military fortress located on Montjuïc mountain.

Historically, the castle has played a significant role during various important events in Barcelona’s history.

• Jardins del Mirador del Alcalde - The Jardins del Mirador del Alcalde are located in Montjuïc, in the Sants-Montjuïc District.

They were developed between 1962 and 1969 by Joaquim Casamor, while the monumental fountain was created by Carles Buïgas. Next to this viewpoint is one of Montjuïc’s cableway stops.

• World Trade Center Barcelona - Inaugurated on July 22, 1999, the World Trade Center Barcelona is the city’s iconic business park.

Located on the maritime front, it is just minutes away from the city center.

The building has a unique structure, inspired by the shape of a ship, designed by renowned architect Henry N. Cobb. It is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea.

The arrangement of the four buildings that make up the complex creates a spectacular central square with an area of 2,500 m².

These four towers house various rental offices, a congress center, and the Hotel Grand Marina, a 5-star hotel with 291 rooms.

• Mirador de Colom - The Columbus Monument is a sculptural complex located in the Portal de la Paz square in Barcelona.

Built in honor of Christopher Columbus, it stands at the junction of Las Ramblas and Passeig de Colón, in front of Barcelona’s old port.

The monument was constructed as part of the coastal improvement efforts for the Universal Exposition of Barcelona in 1888.

Inaugurated on June 1, 1888, during the Exposition, it quickly became one of the city’s most iconic landmarks.

Inside the column is an elevator that takes you up to a half-sphere situated below the statue’s feet, offering a view of the city.

• Port Vell (Old Port) - Port Vell (Old Port) is the oldest section of the Port of Barcelona. It is where Barcelona’s artificial port originated, with over 2000 years of tradition.

It is separated from the sea by a breakwater, which until recently was one of the city’s most popular leisure spots.

Today, the facilities at Port Vell, such as Muelle del Depósito and Muelle de la Barceloneta, are used for sports boats.

In the central area, there is a commercial zone known as Maremagnum. A section of the port is also reserved for cruise ships.

• Maremagnum - Maremagnum is a shopping center located on Muelle de España in Port Vell.

It focuses on fashion and accessories shops and large national and international chains, as well as dining establishments.

It is the only mall in Barcelona permitted to open year-round due to its tourist location. It receives approximately 13 million visitors annually, mostly tourists.

• Passeig del Colom - Passeig de Colón is an avenue in the Ciutat Vella District, running parallel to the sea between Antonio López Square and Portal de la Paz, where the Columbus Monument is located.
• Barceloneta - Barceloneta is a coastal neighborhood where locals go to surf and sunbathe on Playa de Sant Sebastià, and enjoy outdoor dining at seafood restaurants and traditional tapas bars.

The dazzling leisure ports, such as the Port Olímpic complex, connected to the beach by a long palm-lined promenade, are filled with luxurious yachts.

The Port’s Cableway offers panoramic views of the city during the journey to Montjuïc mountain.

• Port Olimpic - Port Olímpic de Barcelona is a leisure port located in front of Villa Olímpica, between the beaches of Barceloneta and Nova Icària, in the San Martín district.
• Parc de la Ciutadella - Parc de la Ciutadella is a public park located in the Ciutat Vella district.

For many years, it was the city’s only public park. It was built on the site of the old citadel, hence the name Parc de la Ciutadella. It was designed using Paris’ Luxembourg Gardens as a reference.

Designed by José Fontseré and inaugurated in 1881, the park hosted the Universal Exposition of Barcelona in 1888.

It is situated in the La Ribera neighborhood, in the triangle between Estación de Francia, Arco de Triunfo, and Villa Olímpica.

In the park, you can find the old Arsenal de la Ciudadela, which now serves as the headquarters of the Parliament of Catalonia. It also houses the Barcelona Zoo.

The park features an extensive public art collection, an authentic outdoor sculpture museum.

• Arco de Triunfo de Barcelona - The Arco de Triunfo is a monument located at the intersection of Passeig de Lluís de Companys, Passeig de Sant Joan, and Ronda de Sant Pere.

Designed by architect José Vilaseca as the main entrance to the Universal Exposition of Barcelona in 1888.

Unlike other triumphal arches with a strong military character, the Arco de Triunfo de Barcelona has a more civil focus, emphasizing artistic, scientific, and economic progress.

The Arco de Triunfo has been the finish line for some of Barcelona’s most important races, such as the Jean Bouin and the Barcelona Marathon.

The monument was restored in 1989.

• Via Laietana - Via Laietana is a street that connects the Ensanche with the Port, traversing Ciutat Vella.

It was named in honor of the area’s first Iberian inhabitants.

• Palace of Catalan Music - The Palau de la Música Catalana is a music auditorium located on Calle Sant Pere més Alt in the Ribera neighborhood of Barcelona.

Designed by Domènech i Montaner, one of the leading figures of Catalan Modernism.

Constructed between 1905 and 1908, it features advanced structural solutions, large crystal walls, and the integration of all the arts: sculpture, mosaics, stained glass, and ironwork.

In 1997, UNESCO included the building in its World Heritage list.

• Barcelona Cathedral - The Santa Iglesia Catedral Basílica Metropolitana de la Santa Cruz y Santa Eulalia is the Gothic Cathedral of Barcelona.

The Cathedral was built between the 13th and 15th centuries over the old Romanesque cathedral, which was also built over a paleochristian basilica, remnants of which can be seen in the underground of the Museo de Historia de la Ciudad.

Its facade is more modern than the rest of the building (19th Century) but shares the style of the entire Cathedral.

This building is considered an Asset of Cultural Interest and, since November 2, 1929, a National Artistic Historical Monument.

• Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic) - The Gothic Quarter is a charming district with many medieval alleys filled with trendy bars, pubs, and Catalan restaurants.

Artisans sell leather goods and beading products near the Cathedral, and flower stands and food can be found in the bustling Rambla.

At Plaza del Pi, named after its basilica, there is an art market every weekend.

• El Born - El Born is a neighborhood known for its medieval streets. During the day, visitors can enjoy coffee shops and designer boutiques, while cocktail bars and samba take center stage at night.

The Basilica of Santa Maria showcases its ornamental stained glass. The famous Picasso Museum displays many of the artist’s masterpieces.

• Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar - The Church of Santa María del Mar is one of Barcelona’s main basilicas.

Built between 1329 and 1383, it has been considered an Official Asset of Cultural Interest since June 3, 1931.

• Las Ramblas - Las Ramblas is an iconic promenade in Barcelona, stretching from Plaza Catalunya to Port Vell.

Las Ramblas are bustling with people all day long. You’ll find kiosks, flower shops, street performers, coffee shops, restaurants, and more. Near the port, there are markets, as well as painters and other artists.

Walking along Las Ramblas, you’ll see many important buildings, such as the Palau de la Virreina, as well as the famous La Boquería market and El Liceo Theatre.

One of the side streets leads to Plaza Real, a stunning square with palm trees and arcaded buildings housing numerous breweries and restaurants.
