- Basarbovo Monastery - Manastirea Basarabov, Unnamed Road, 7071 Басарбово, Bulgaria
Discover the unique charm of the Basarabovo Monastery, a stone monastery unlike any other, located just beyond the Bulgarian border. It’s a must-visit destination.
- Tsarevets - Another must-see attraction in Bulgaria is Veliko Tarnovo, the capital of the Bulgarian Empire from 1185-1393. Visitors will not only explore UNESCO World Heritage sites but also enjoy relaxation, adventure, and traditional Bulgarian cuisine, ensuring a truly unforgettable experience.
Strolling through the narrow streets and admiring the tiered houses, visitors will feel a sense of belonging in this enchanting city, known for its rich culture and distinctive appearance.
- Konstantsalieva House - Regardless of how many open-air museums one has visited, a private trip to Arbanasi Village in Bulgaria, just beyond the Romanian border, will captivate with its extraordinary architecture, even to those without a professional eye.
Upon entering the village, visitors will find it hard to put their cameras down, as each house resembles a miniature fortress, featuring unique stone structures, thick walls, and wooden window frames. The entire village is a designated historical and architectural reserve and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
- Church of the Nativity - This is the oldest and most ornately decorated church in the village of Arbanasi. Constructed in stages, the earliest layer of wall paintings dates back to the late 16th century. The church comprises a naos, a narthex, a gallery, and a chapel dedicated to St. John the Baptist.
One of the most fascinating scenes is the genealogical tree of Jesus Christ with the twelve ancient philosophers, located in the narthex.
“The wheel of life” is the most striking wall painting in the church’s gallery. It represents the earliest depiction of this scene on the walls of Bulgarian churches.
