The best way to get an understanding of the history of the Salamanca area in Hobart. - A great way to get a perspective of what it was like to live and work in the Salamanca and Battery Point area in the 1800's. Peter was a great guide and has a comprehensive understanding of the history of Hobart and a passion to match.

Highly recommend - A group of 6 (4 from Melbourne and 2 visiting from the UK) we did the walking tour with Peter mid-week in winter and thoroughly enjoyed it. He is very knowledgable about Hobart and its history and imparts his knowledge in an engaging manner, with clarity and good humour. His historical photographs add to the information being imparted. The tour moved along at a good pace without being rushed and included recommendations of good places for coffee/baked goods/scallop pies/restaurants/whisky bars - all of which we put to good use later. Highly recommend Peter as a guide.

“A Must in order to truly understand Salamanca” - Wonderful tour and history of Salamanca and surrounding area. Our guide had many anecdotal stories as well as historical ones concerning our sites. He was thoroughly enjoyable and the tour seemed to fly by.

Excellent tour/ Salamanca walk with Peter Lutz - We had an excellent tour of the older city areas of Hobart with a very knowledgeable guide, Peter Lutz. We learned about how this community started, who lived here, what they were doing for a living, how difficult life was. Loved his passion for this city’s history/ culture. Thank you very much Peter!

Educational and worthwhile - The old buildings in Salamanca Place, the mansions, the gardens, first fleet memorial which was relevant for me with my ancestors names. Nature and Arthur Circus the pine from America. Descriptions about the buildings. Photos of interest.
