The firefly colonies at Kampung Kuantan and Kampung Bukit Belimbing represent a little-known gem of the state, featuring a remarkable natural spectacle. These diminutive creatures inhabit berembang (Sonneratia caseolaris) trees flourishing in the mildly salty water.

The fireflies can be found nesting in the mangrove tree species known as berembang. Commonly referred to as ‘Lightning Bugs’, these fireflies emit a strong glow at night to lure potential mates. Interestingly, they have the capability to glow in the daylight as well, however, it’s not visible to human eyes.
