- Templer Park - Templer Park is situated just beyond Kanching Recreational Forest when traveling from Rawang towards the Kuala Lumpur trunk road. This park offers a great alternative for local recreation, especially on weekends.
Covering an area of approximately 1200 hectares, it is located about 7 km from the town of Rawang. The park is named after Sir Gerald Templer, the British High Commissioner to Malaya in the 1950s.
This location is ideal for jungle hiking, picnicking, and enjoying a dip in the pool at the parkās base. While facilities are basic, with toilets and bathing amenities available near the parking area, the natural beauty is the main attraction.
Hiking to the pool takes around 15 minutes, and for those seeking more adventure, a further 40-minute hike leads to the waterfalls.
- Sri Shakti Temple - Sri Shakti Temple is the only temple worldwide where manifestations of all 51 Shaktis are installed. Within this sacred space are 96 intricately carved pillars representing the 96 universal principles of Hinduism. Surrounded by a grand decorative wall, entry to the temple is through a magnificent Raja Gopuram. Rising to a height of 74 feet, the 5-tiered Raja Gopuram showcases the architectural wonders within. The templeās main entrance features 18-foot high sculpted granite frames weighing up to 4 tonnes, crafted by skilled artisans from the ancient city of Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu, India.
- Altingsburg Lighthouse - The lighthouse is located at the highest point of Bukit Melawati, offering visitors breathtaking views of the Straits of Malacca. Constructed in 1907, it began serving navigational purposes in 1910. Its strategic location also made it a key point for monitoring the Strait of Malacca. Named after a Dutch general, it was extensively used during the British colonial era.
- Bukit Melawati - This site retains its original foundation stones, cannons, and a legendary execution block. Visitors can enjoy a stunning view of the coastline from the hill.
- Kampung Kuantan Firefly Park - Kuala Selangor is a quaint coastal village northwest of Kuala Lumpur. Along this river, visitors can witness the famous fireflies (kelip-kelip in Bahasa Melayu) during the evenings and nights. The fireflies inhabit the mangrove tree species known as Berembang, and it is said to be one of the largest firefly colonies in the world.
Fireflies, also called ālightning bugs,ā emit a bright glow at night to attract mates. Although they can shine during the day, it is not visible to humans. They are only seen at night among the āBerembangā trees along the Selangor River.
There are several delightful restaurants, primarily serving fresh seafood. Restoran Kuala Selangor is a popular spot for enjoying a delicious local meal at Pasir Penambang.
