Ride a slide, train and raft hundreds of feet underground! - I previously visited a salt mine some 35 years ago, but this trip included even more great elements. They provide you with an overall to keep you warm and protect your clothes. There are audio guides available in multiple languages and clear safety briefings. We had people of all ages in our group and everyone had a great time. The history and equipment displayed is amazing, but going down the slides is the highlight! I won’t spoil it, but this is a great experience and it contained many more elements than I experienced elsewhere all those years ago.

Fun, wish we were told about lunch and Eagles Nest breaks - Very interesting and fun tour even with teenagers. The small train, slides, and even the “boat” ride would probably be thrilling for little kids, but still fun for adults and teenaged boys. The cool temperature in the mine was a welcome break from the 90ish F degree temperatures in Salzburg. We were a bit annoyed that we didn’t know about the additional 1 hour lunch break in the small town on the way home, but it ended up being a cute town and the lunch was delicious at the Edelweiss restaurant. We also weren’t told beforehand about stopping at Eagles Nest on the way there and back. If you get motion sick, be aware on the wind-y roads both ways!

Educational and entertaining salt mine tour led by an actual miner - My favorite part of the salt mine tour was our guide, an authentic, third-generation, no-nonsense salt miner who was obviously proud of his work. He had so much knowledge and personal experiences to share about the mine operation. The mine is not just a job for these men; they rely on each other and share a greater bond that was so unexpected to me. Our guide said while he didn’t mind his week of tour guide duty, he couldn’t wait to get back to the mine. There are some elements of the tour geared toward children, but it is definitely worthwhile for adults.

Superb and fascinating tour - Another excellent trip. The guide / driver was knowledgeable & skilled. The experience itself was brilliant, thou the English translation for me was a little late. The mines were spectacular, the unground lake for me being the highlight. Only problem being photos were not allowed (even thou several people took them). Even got a uniform which fitted, which made a nice change

Hurry hurry - The Salt mines were great! Very interesting and educational. Wearing the overalls , riding the train into the mines and sliding down the slides to get to different levels was so fun! The views from the bus were breathtaking. Unfortunately, our tour was coupled with another tour of the eagles nest. They were dropped off before we got to the salt mines. I understand they were on a tight schedule to make it all work but because of that it made our time rushed and not as enjoyable as expected. The guide we had was only interested in hurrying us along to get on the tour and hurrying us off the tour to get on the bus. I almost wish that we had gone to the mines on our own so that we could’ve enjoyed a more relaxing tour without the anxiety that was caused due to having to rush.

Salt mine fun! - This was a lot of fun and our tour guide was great. He helped with food recommendations and had a lot of interesting facts and funny stories. My only suggestion is to pay attention to what you are booking. We thought we were booking Eagles nest AND the salt mines not just the Salt Mines so were a little confused when we were obly allowed to see the salt mines. Once again, that was on us; but still, pay attention when booking if you want both.
