- Crystal Mountain - Crystal Mountain is a small natural arch in the rock, with sparkling calcite crystal walls that make it an ideal spot for photography. Geologists refer to it as an exhumed cave, originally complete with stalagmites and stalactites, which has been uplifted by earth movements and gradually lost its roof to erosion. The calcite crystals formed in ancient caves within the Khoman chalk.
Crystal Mountain is located at the edge of the White Desert, where the black iron and basalt pebbles transition to the sand-blown chalk formations that rise on either side of the road.
- Valley of Agabat - Nestled deep within the White Desert, the Valley of Agabat offers an otherworldly beauty that must be experienced firsthand. Millions of years ago, this area was submerged under the sea, leading to the development of unique limestone, chalk, and possibly sand rock formations over time. Standing atop a small rock cliff, the valley’s rock formations unfold before you, offering a rare moment of peace and contentment in the absence of any other living beings. It’s a must-see.
- White Desert - The White Desert Protected Area is a national park in Egypt, designated as a protected area in 2002. It is located in the Farafra depression, 45 km north of Qsar El Farafra. Part of the park lies within the Farafra Oasis (New Valley Governorate).
The park is renowned for its large white chalk rock formations, sculpted by wind and sand erosion. It also features cliffs at the northern end of the Farafra Depression, sand dunes that are part of the Great Sand Sea, as well as Wadi Hennis and oases at Ain El Maqfi and Ain El Wadi.
The park provides a sanctuary for various animals, including the endangered Rhim gazelle, the vulnerable Dorcas gazelle, Barbary sheep, jackals, Rüppell’s, red and fennec foxes, and the sand cat.

English Mountain Bahariya Oasis - Known as English Mountain, this popular tourist attraction is located in a region renowned for adventure tourism, thanks to its diverse desert landscapes and unusual rock formations, drawing numerous visitors each year.
The name ‘English Mountain’ originates from the British forces’ occupation during World War I in 1916, serving as a reconnaissance post in Bahariya Oasis. The mountain’s summit features ruins that are visible from afar. Its elevated position allowed troops under Captain Williams’ command to detect any advances from Libyan forces, who frequently attempted invasions of the Oasis during that period. Due to volcanic activity in the area, the mountain is distinctly covered with basalt and diorite. - Bahariya Oasis Salt Lake - Salt Lake is one of several salt lakes scattered across Egypt’s Western Desert. It is also a fascinating birdwatching site, where visitors can observe migrating birds and the annual Geminid Meteor Shower. As the sun sets and darkness falls, mid- and high-altitude clouds in the western sky are illuminated by the remaining sunlight, marking the beginning of civil twilight. Evening civil twilight starts after sunset and continues until the sun’s geometric center is six degrees below the horizon. During this time, only the brightest stars and planets are visible, and the horizon remains clearly defined.
- Gebel El-Dist - Gebel al-Dist, also known as Pyramid Mountain, is a local landmark recognized for its iconic pyramid-shaped form.
