You’ll learn all sorts! - We went on this tour in March and we’re still telling everyone about it now (some six months later). We booked direct through cannibal art website and received all the instructions straight from Ana with reassurances that we would not miss the departure of the cruise ship and pictures of the boat we had to catch on the quayside. From the moment we stepped onto ‘their’ beach we knew we were in for a treat. Ana and Tangy are the warmest, happiest couple you’re ever likely to meet. The walk (do NOT under estimate it when Ana says it’s a trek through the jungle), it is arduous at times in the heat, through rivers (make sure you are wearing closed toed shoes which you are happy to wear in water), over boulders and up and down tracks. A certain amount of fitness is required to ensure the group get the most out of the trip. The history, culture, geography, environment and social knowledge learnt on this tour was worth its weight in gold (compared to the ‘soft’ tourist trips offered on the cruise ship) Don’t forget the mozzie repellant and enjoy! And, buy Ana’s book all about how she got there… I can’t wait for the sequel! .

Fabulous ride - Excellent outing and fabulous day. We were with Tanguy who lives in this beautiful valley and imbued DE mystery and DE tranquility. The walk is beautiful, the landscapes fantastic, the cliffs are vertiginous. We were DE lucky to go to the foot DE the waterfall. I recommend without any hesitation. However, you must have a good physical condition because although it is not difficult, you still have to cross fords and the very numerous pebbles are slippery. Thanks again Tanguy and Ana

Exceptional Experience in Nuka Hiva - We had a fantastic tour with Ana and Tangy. We were on a cruise so they adjusted the typical schedule to accommodate the ship’s schedule. All the communications were great. The Hakaui valley is spectacular. The pictures do not do justice to the magnificent mountains or the waterfall. The trail can be slippery going over wet rocks so I would suggest shoes with good traction. Ana and Tangy are very knowledgable and really delightful to spend time with. It is less like a guided tour and more like having a conversation with friends. You go by boat to meet Ana and Tangy at the beach at the entrance of the valley. The boat trip was exciting, too.

Far from Ordinary! - If you are tired of “normal” tours and are ready for adventure with a connection to local culture, then I’d highly recommend this tour! Ana and Tangy were extraordinary hosts from beginning to end! They were in contact during booking and preparation, arranged transportation, warmly welcomed us, safely guided us, and explained the local area, culture and history as we hiked. We have been on tours around the world and this one stands out as one of the best!

Amazing experience - Such an amazing experience! Tangy and Ana are great hosts. It was totally worth it to have a guide on a hike because on our way to the waterfall you hear all their cool stories and they point out you some things/spots that you would just pass by without noticing. Also, you hear a lot about their culture, traditions and the history of a life in Hakaui valley. On top of that, homemade lunch at their home was just cherry on top of the ice cream of the whole tour. Thank You Cannibal art!!

Best Excursion on Nuka Hiva! - Fantastic experience! This valley is only accessible by water, so our visit was a unique one. Ana and Tangy were amazing!

Great experience in the Hakaui Valley - Superb excursion to the Hakahui Valley with Ana and Tangy. We can only recommend this activity, everything was perfect: A beautiful and wild valley up to the waterfall, exciting explanations about the valley’s history and moments of sharing a life in harmony with nature. Thanks to Ana for her delicious meal. We will not fail to consult their shop Canibal Art which reflects their values.

Wild Polynesian - Anna was a great guide and Tangy made a delicious lunch. It’s a completely unspoiled valley. I wish we had made it to the waterfall.

Best excursion!! Sign up! You won't regret it! - This excusion with Ana and Tandy was by far the best excursion of our 35 day cruise. Excellent!! If you want to learn first hand about the history and culture of Nuku Hava, sign up! Ana led us on the hike while Tandy made us a delicious lunch. Kudos to the boat taxi, too. He was waiting for us at the tendering dock. Bring water and hiking shoes and water. Get ready to sweat!

Disappointing. - We were really disappointed. Very few moments to enjoy the views ; we were left behind without monitoring, we got lost and when we found the group, it was time to go back. The trip was more a trail than a leisure walk. We saw very little of the cascade ; the rest of the group (people used to mountain hike) didn't see much more than us. I wish we had more time to enjoy the walk, and less waiting on the beach for the boat to come pick us. Little interaction with the couple. They were both nice but not involved as one can expect for such an amount (and boat fare is not included). We won't come back with them.
