100 yr old Steam train - The train conductor was very informative, but for us we had a great time talking to the "Fireman". He answered our questions about the steam engine and stoking the fire. We continued our tour to the Abby house and rum tour. All was super informative and fun to learn about.

All Aboard - I was today year's old when I discovered that Barbados has a steam railway! St Nicholas Steam train is a real treat! It's costs £50 (adults) but the money goes to funding the Abbey and the railway. The conductress (Tonia Cumberbatch) was hilarious sharing her knowledge and insight as the train chugged its way to Cherry Tree Hill. There's a short break so that you can get those photos of the breathtaking vista. It's a wonderful trip for all ages and I'm so glad I experienced this.

Lovely excursion and well worth the trip north. - Lovely excursion. Just a 40 minute drive from the south and well signposted so easy to find. I booked on arrival with all options explained. I went for the full package and is well worth premium. Fun, lovely scenery, highly informative. Wasn't particularly busy when I went. Staff were fun and highly knowledgable. Something I found quite pleasing was the lack of hard-selling for the rum! Usually on these types of tours when you're shown how something is made, you're corralled into a room at the end and given the emotional blackmail spiel to encourage you buy something. There was none of that here. Anyway, highly recommended - suggest the full tour is the better value.

St. Nicholas Abbey & Historic Train - Touring St. Nicholas Abbey was the highlight. Virginia, the guide, was excellent and it was evident how much she enjoys her job and her boss with her enthusiasm. She was incredibly knowledgeable and the house was fascinating! Our only issue is that it was confusing in selecting the train and the house tour in that our train ride was very truncated.

Classic Bajan History - An enjoyable ride in an old spark engined carriage. The guide was outstanding, giving the history of the plantation as well as the railway. The house was small, but full of bajan history, having a commentary from our guide which was clear and easily understandable. We were also shown the rum distillery, the production of the bottles from 5 years to 40 in strength. We were treated to a sampling of both the white rum and 5 year rum ….. very interesting and tasty. The gift shop was small yet packed with easily priced goods - this was a plaesure as so often the gift shops in other places takes a larger site than the workshops. Well done management. We ate at the small restaurant, with food which was easy and enjoyable, well run by the staff. This whole experience was first rate.

Worth a visit. - An enjoyable trip on the train through the grounds with spectacular views up Cherry Tree Hill. The tour round the house and rum tasting was informative, if a little quick. Worth the money though,
