Beijing West Railway Station - The driver will collect you from your hotel lobby in Beijing and transport you to Beijing West Railway Station. You will board the morning train to Zhengzhou, which takes approximately 2.5 to 3.5 hours.
Shaolin Monastery (Shaolin Temple) - Upon arrival, meet your welcoming local tour guide, who will take you directly to Shaolin Temple (about a 1.5-hour drive). During the journey, your guide will share the history of Shaolin Temple, and you can enjoy the scenic countryside views.
Upon reaching Shaolin Temple, you will stop at a local restaurant to savor a delightful lunch.
Shaolin Temple is renowned for Chinese Kung Fu. You will have the opportunity to witness authentic Kung Fu performed by Shaolin monks. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Shaolin Temple was initially built in 495 A.D. Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-557) commissioned the temple to house the Indian master Batuo. Recognized as the birthplace of Chan Buddhism and the cradle of Kung Fu, Shaolin Temple holds significant cultural importance. With your knowledgeable tour guide, you will learn about the history, culture, and stories of Shaolin Temple.
Pagoda Forest of Shaolin Temple - Next, explore the Pagoda Forest, a collection of tomb pagodas for the temple’s eminent monks and abbots.
There are over 240 tomb pagodas of various sizes from the Tang, Song, Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties (618-1911), making it the largest pagoda forest in China.
Afterward, you will be transferred to your accommodation in Luoyang (about a 1.5-hour drive). Please arrange your own accommodation in Luoyang in advance.
Luoyang - Beijing (B, L)
Longmen Grottoes - After breakfast, your tour guide will meet you at the scheduled time and take you directly to Longmen Grottoes.
As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Longmen Grottoes feature over 2,300 caves and niches carved into the steep limestone cliffs along a 1km stretch. It is the largest and most impressive collection of Chinese art from the late Northern Wei and Tang Dynasties (316-907). With your knowledgeable tour guide, you will also visit the Fengxian Temple and the Wanfo Cave.
Beijing West Railway Station - Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, and your tour guide will escort you to Luoyang Railway Station for your train back to Beijing (approximately 3.5 hours). Upon arrival, your driver will meet you at Beijing West Railway Station and return you to your hotel in Beijing City. Alternatively, you can choose to conclude your tour in Luoyang or Zhengzhou.
Note: You will travel by train independently, and your local English-speaking tour guide will meet you in Zhengzhou.
