Amazing day - Ranee took us out a whole day to discover some of Beijing’s highlights. She was very thoughtful, and was keen to understand and adapt to what we were interested in. She explained a lot about old and modern Chinese life in fluent English, and took us to a local restaurant for a tasty, authentic lunch (what a relief from the buffets where tour guides from other companies sometimes take you to). Thank you for this amazing day, Ranee. If you are considering to book a tour with Discover Beijing Tours, ask for Ranee.

Quick tour of sites - Susan was our guide and was very knowledgable in the history of the places we visited. We chose not to enter the Square because lines were too long, but we did quickly drive through it. We enjoyed the Pearl Market and learned to haggle quite well.

Great tour with Sherry and LiYanBin! - I had a day in Beijing to myself and, as a first time visitor, wanted to see the major sites. Sherry, my guide, was amazing! She was so knowledgeable and engaging! And she took care of all logistics, making sure we did not have to stand in long lines (it was school summer vacations) and have all the admission tickets in advance. I would have never been able to see and learn so much in one day without her! LiYanBin, our driver, was great too! Very comfortable car, on time pick up and completely customizable tour. I got to see all the sites I wanted that day. And got treated to an enjoyable and tasty traditional summer meal for lunch. Communicating and coordinating was very easy.

An Amazing Day in Beijing - While we are experienced travelers, we knew when traveling to Beijing the experience would be tremendously improved with the help of a guide. Not only did Ranee do a fabulous job showing us Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and the Temple of Heaven, but also found a local restaurant for us to sample Peking Duck and also arranged a last minute tea ceremony that my daughter really enjoyed. She did more than show us the sights, she helped bring the history alive with stories.

We had a fantastic time... - We had a fantastic time with our guide Alice. She picked up at our hotel and brought us in the core of the city. We visited the forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven where she told us many details about the history of the different dinasties, ancient China and current facts about the place. She also brought us for a tea ceremony and local delicious restaurant where we had a lovely lunch which for sure we would not be able to find by ourselves. We give our highest recommendation!

Great rainy day - Linda was very kind. She helped us with weather forecasts before picking us up, and then explained everything very well during the tour. We weren't very lucky because it was a rainy day, but she helped make it a great day. The driver even gave us raincoats if we needed them. Thank you for your kindness; we really enjoyed learning about your culture.

Conveniently covered a lot of ground in the unbearable heat - Met up with Jack and our driver promptly at 10 am in our hotel lobby (party of 12). Jack was personable and spoke good English. He advised us to bring our umbrellas due to the threat of rain and then we headed off into their large air conditioned van. We stopped at a street corner that is a 15-minute walk to the Forbidden City (South Gate). It was stifling hot and humid which made the experience unbearable. There were crowds of people milling around, taking photos, and waiting in the security/ticket line (bring your passport). It was wonderful seeing the City and Jack took the time to explain certain things and features (palaces, stairs, buildings, lions, rock wall) but we were eager to move on because of the crowds and heat. We should have brought the water bottles they provided in the van. We bought water at the store past the outer court. We thankfully brought our umbrellas for shade (not rain). We walked out of the Imperial Garden and North Gate and a 10-minute walk to where the van picked us up. We drove about 15 minutes away from the Center to a local dumpling restaurant (Manjie). We had a private room and it was beyond delicious. Jack ordered the right amount and variety of food and drinks and we were super satisfied. The public restrooms nearby were clean. We then headed off to the Temple of Heaven. Dropped us off about a 5-minute walk from the front ticket gate and another 10-minute walk to the Temple. Again, super crowded and hot so we moved quickly. Good to see but not for lingering around. Our final stop was Tiananmen Square. Some of us didn't want to go so they were dropped off at a KFC nearby. The rest of us proceeded on a 15-minute walk to the Square through two or three heavy security checkpoints. It was cooler by that time and less crowded so it was more pleasurable and wonderful to see and appreciate its enormity. Came away satisfied and the van dropped us off back at our hotel. They will try to softly upsell their other tours (acrobat, hutong, silk shop, airport transfer), but didn't feel pressured All in all, we saw everything we wanted to see in a super convenient way with a personable, knowledgeable guide - but for the heat and crowds. Would recommend (but not in the summer).
