The Summer Palace is the largest and most well-preserved of the remaining imperial gardens, rich in history and culture. Once a summer retreat for emperors, this 716-acre park remains a haven for tourists, who can unwind or explore ancient pavilions, mansions, temples, bridges, and a vast lake, with opportunities to visit shops or tea houses. A beloved summer retreat for the Imperial families, the beautifully landscaped gardens, halls, pavilions, and corridors are harmoniously arranged around the lake and rivers.
Long Corridor at the Summer Palace
The paths by the lake lead visitors under shady trees or along the roofed colonnade known as the Long Corridor, featuring magnificently painted ceilings. Bridges, boats, willows, lotus flowers, and other charming landscaping make this a delightful place to absorb the atmosphere and enjoy the views.
At noon, a traditional lunch will be served. Vegetarian, Western, and Local Specialty options are available.

Prince Kung’s (Gong) Mansion - Prince Gong’s Mansion is the best-preserved mansion in China, comprising both the mansion and the park.
The main layout of Prince Gong’s Mansion includes three sections: middle buildings, east, and west buildings. All three sections are aligned along the central axis and consist of traditional courtyards. These mansions were constructed with the highest level of building standards of that era. Additionally, there are three courtyards in each of the three main buildings, each a popular tourist attraction. - Bell and Drum Towers - The Drum Tower was equipped with bronze clepsydras and drums that were beaten to mark the hours. The drum was beaten quickly 18 times and then slowly 18 times to indicate the hour. Visitors have the chance to climb to the top of the Drum Tower for an excellent view of the drumming performance, which lasts for 20 minutes.
