Beijing - Lijiang City Highlights (L)
The Sandalwood, Beijing - Marriott Executive Apartments - The driver will be waiting in the lobby of the Beijing hotel with a sign displaying the guest’s name, ready to transfer them to the airport for a 4-hour flight to Lijiang.
Upon arrival in Lijiang, the tour guide will be at the exit of the arrival hall with a sign displaying the guest’s name. Guests will then board a private vehicle and head directly to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
Lijiang Impressions Show - After enjoying lunch at a local restaurant, guests will experience the incredible Lijiang Impressions Show. This daytime performance uses the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain as its backdrop. Over 100 horses and 500 non-professional peasant actors from 16 local villages and more than 10 ethnic minorities deliver an outstanding performance. They showcase their culture, history, and customs through unique movements and original songs. Guests can select their preferred tickets for the show when booking.
Yulong (Jade Dragon) Mountain - The remainder of the day will be spent exploring Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, with its 13 peaks, is the southernmost glacier in the Northern Hemisphere. Viewed from Lijiang Old Town, the snow-covered and misty mountain resembles a jade dragon lying in the clouds, hence its name. Approximately half of China’s plant species originated in Yunnan province, and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is home to about half of these, including trees, flowers, and medicinal herbs and plants. The mountain’s numerous ravines, creeks, cliffs, and meadows all have Naxi names and serve as settings for the myths and legends of the people who have inhabited the plain for 1,000 years.
Guests will receive information and learn legendary stories from the tour guide. Upon arrival, they will take a convenient cable car to the scenic viewing point (4506 meters) to marvel at the spectacular glacier and mountain views. Guests can choose to hike up to 4680 meters via wooden stairs. When ready to leave, they will descend by cable car.
After the tour concludes, guests will be transferred to their hotel in Lijiang.
Lijiang-The First Bend of the Yangtze-Tiger Leaping Gorge (B,L)
The First Bend of Yangtze River - Guests will meet their private guide in the hotel’s lobby in Lijiang and head directly to Tiger Leaping Gorge, which takes about 2 hours. They can relax and enjoy the scenery along the way.
On the journey, there will be a stop at The First Bend of the Yangtze. The Yangtze River, rushing down from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau—“the roof of the world,” enters Yunnan from the northwest, where it meets the Lancang River and Nu River. Together, they traverse the high mountains and deep gorges of the Hengduan Mountains.
Guests can enjoy the breathtaking scenery and stop for photos.
Tiger Leaping Gorge (Hutiao Xia) - The journey continues to Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the deepest gorges in the world.
Tiger Leaping Gorge is divided into three sections based on its topographical features: the upper gorge, the middle gorge, and the lower gorge. The most famous scenic spots are the Mouth of the Gorge and the Tiger Leaping Pebble, both located in the upper gorge. Today, guests will explore the upper Tiger Leaping Gorge.
Upon arrival, the tour guide will share legendary stories about the gorge, and guests will walk about 1.5 miles (2.6 km) to the Tiger Leaping Rock. Along the way, they will enjoy stunning views of the gorge and can stop for photos.
After enjoying lunch at a local restaurant, guests will be transferred back to their hotel in Lijiang.
Lijiang City Highlights (B, L)
Old Town of Lijiang - China - The English-speaking guide will meet guests in the lobby of their Lijiang hotel, and they will explore the Old Town of Lijiang.
The Old Town of Lijiang is a well-preserved ancient city of ethnic minorities with a rich culture. First built in the late Song Dynasty (960 - 1279), it has a history of over 800 years. The town’s architecture reflects a blend of Han, Bai, and Tibetan influences, resulting in a unique Naxi style.
Museum of Naxi Dongba Culture - Guests will stroll around the old town with their tour guide and stop at the Museum of Naxi Dongba Culture, which is dedicated to the history of the Naxi people, their pictographic language, and animist Dongba religion. Guests will explore the museum and learn about Naxi culture and art.
Mufu Palace - Next, guests will visit Mufu Palace. The Mu Family, the top rulers of the Naxi minority, governed Lijiang from the Yuan Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, spanning 470 years and 22 generations. The current Mufu Palace represents ancient central China architectural style from the Ming Dynasty, while also incorporating elements from the Tang and Song Dynasties. Inside, the details reflect the minority features of the Bai and Naxi groups. In addition to its architectural value, the palace serves as an exceptional plant museum with ancient trees and extraordinary plants. The garden combines imperial and Suzhou styles. Guests will explore the palace and learn its history and stories from the tour guide.
Black Dragon Pond Park - Guests will then explore Black Dragon Pond Park. Following the tour guide, they will discover ancient monuments such as the Longshen Temple, the Deyue Pavilion, the Suocui Bridge, and the Hanyue Stage. Guests will enjoy stunning views of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain from the park.
If guests choose to end their tour in Beijing, they will be transferred to the airport after lunch.
Lijiang Lion Rock - If guests choose to end their tour in Lijiang, they will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and then proceed to Lion Hill Park. The Lion Mountain resembles a sleeping lion from afar, offering a picturesque view.
Wangu Pavilion - Guests will reach the mountaintop and ascend to the Wangu Pavilion, a five-storied all-wooden structure with five elegant eaves. The tower is considered the No.1 Domed-shaped Structure in China. Guests should have their cameras ready to capture the panoramic view of the surrounding areas, including Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the Old Town, and the Naxi minority villages.
Wenchang Palace - The tour continues to Wenchang Palace, originally built in 1725. It was once a venue for exams and folk lectures during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Guests will stroll around the area and then visit the Twin-Stone Garden, where they can find a large waterwheel and bas-relief commemorating the civilization of the Naxi nationality.
If guests have other places in mind to visit, they can inform their tour guide.
After the tour concludes, guests will be transferred to their hotel in Lijiang (please book your own hotel).
