- Beijing - Guests will be collected from their hotel between 10:30 am and 11:00 am. The journey to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall will take approximately 1½ hours.
Upon arrival, there are two options for ascending and descending the Wall: a round-trip cable car or a round-trip chairlift (or toboggan). Guests can choose their preferred method upon arrival. Opting for the cable car or chairlift takes about seven minutes to reach the top, whereas walking up the steps may take around 45 minutes.
The cable car travels to and from the 14th watchtower. From there, visitors can walk east to the 23rd watchtower, which is considered the most scenic part of the Mutianyu section. The chairlift reaches the 6th watchtower, and hiking from the 6th to the 23rd watchtower is quite challenging. Based on physical ability, most guests who use the chairlift hike from tower 6 to tower 14 and then return to tower 6. Descending the mountain by toboggan is an enjoyable experience.
