Excellent eclectic experience - We went on the walking tour with Marti and he couldn't have been more friendly and dedicated. He explained curiosities and secrets to us about the history of this incredible city. Nothing better than a visit with a local citizen! We also took good advice with us for the rest of our stay. The Cathedral and the streer art Murals are impressive! Without a doubt I would count on Marti again for another unforgettable experience in Belfast!

Tour with a Belfast local - a must do! - Marti is an extremely knowledgeable and charismatic guide. He is so passionate about his city and this makes for a wonderful experience. He even adapted the tour to talk more about our interests (the troubles) when we asked him to. Please do yourself a favour and attend one of his tours if you have the opportunity - show an interest in his content and you will enjoy yourself immensely!! Please ignore any negative reviews, this was one of the best things I did in the UK!

Excellent walking tour - We had a great tour of Belfast with Marti. It isn’t sn exaggeration to say that Marti knows everything about Belfast: the history, the culture and the arts. It was a cold rainy day but the hours blew by! We learned so much and highly recommend this tour! Thanks Marti!

A deeply disconcerting experience - In short: Very informative man, but strange behavior and scared me, followed me back after ending the tour and continued following when told to stop. In long: I saw the positive reviews and was very excited to see Belfast on foot. My friend and I had a quick turnaround in Belfast and I wanted to see as much of the city as possible and booked a 6pm evening tour. I was at the meeting spot for a few minutes before I got a message asking me where I was. I saw no group and no clear sign from the tour guide and began having to ask random people if they were my tour guide before finding Marti. He seemed disturbed that I asked him whether he was my tour guide, and when I told him how I had booked the tour for two people, however my friend wasn’t feeling up to it so he could keep the whole money as it was short notice but I would be doing the tour on my own, he seemed even more annoyed. When I then tried to make small talk he looked distracted and said “you should have canceled the tour”. I asked him multiple times then and after whether he wanted to continue the tour and he insisted we do but didn’t seem like he wanted to. He then continued to say things that were strange to me for a tour guide, when I mentioned we were only in Belfast a short time he said “So you won’t do anything I recommend here, why would you come here, what a waste of time in Belfast”. When he asked my interests he immediately shot them down as irrelevant to the tour, which is fine but why ask them in the first place? I began feeling very unsettled by those remarks and his general demeanor and wanted to leave, so I asked my friend to come get me. When my friend arrived, he immediately also felt off. We then attempted to leave the tour and thanked him for his time and that we simply weren’t a fit. He then got visibly upset and said that we weren’t giving him a chance and that I was upset about my relationship (I had mentioned during some small talk before that I was traveling with someone I used to date, whom I am good friends with), and he needed to fix our relationship before having a good tour, and that we should continue the tour. We then said that we were going to leave and to have a good night. It was not a great experience, but up to then I was willing to let it go. He then started following us down the street raising his voice, saying “I just don’t know what I did”. We told him to stop and he continued following us and told us to finish the tour. We kept telling him that he can keep the money and that we wanted him to leave, but he would not leave us alone. He started saying this is his job and that it is not okay because we will leave a bad review. We repeated that we will pay him and not write anything to get him to leave. My friend then physically stood between Marti and I while walking away, and shortly after, he stopped following us. I was initially not going to do anything about this as I understand some personalities do not match and Marti might be a good fit for someone else, but following someone after they have told you not to repeatedly is not okay. I felt deeply unsafe due to his behavior, and cannot imagine what would have happened or how even more unsafe I would have felt if my friend hadn’t come. I was a woman at night, alone with a man who was getting increasingly upset & following me, in a foreign country, in a town that I don’t know. He seems like a knowledgeable guide and I wish I had the positive experience others seemed to have but I would suggest to book only in the daytime, make sure you’re in a group, and with caution.
