Guided by an expert who has been a loyal customer for 15 years, participants will explore the Kalenić Farmers Market to savor the finest and freshest burek, ajvar, kaymak, čvarci, ćevapi, baklava, and Tito. The selections are carefully chosen from farmers and traditional producers known personally.
The tasting journey begins like a local’s, with a phyllo pastry called burek, at a family-owned bakery with an 80-year history. Next, participants will visit a stall featuring award-winning ajvar, a pepper spread renowned as vegetable caviar, and learn the family recipe.
Ajvar naturally pairs with kaymak, a delicious dairy spread made solely from milk and salt. The following taste is čvarci, pork belly scratchings that offer a delightful crunch and melt in the mouth.
For the renowned Serbian grill, participants will visit a local favorite spot to enjoy ćevapi (grilled minced meat batons).
The tasting concludes with traditional desserts that reflect the influences of two diverse traditions: žito, rooted in Orthodox symbolism of rebirth, and baklava, which arrived with the Ottomans from the Middle East.
