• Belize City - The tour kicks off in Belize City. After pick-up, guests will enjoy a brief tour of the north side of Belize City as they head to the howler monkey sanctuary. Along the way, they will see several landmarks and educational institutions. Upon returning from the sanctuary, the city tour will continue on the south side. In addition to landmarks and historical buildings, guests will be driven through downtown Belize City, where they can observe the vibrant faces of the Belizean people as they go about their daily activities. This tour offers a wonderful opportunity to experience the country’s rich cultural and natural history.
• Belize District - As the tour progresses to the Sanctuary, it will pass by the historic Belize River, once used by the Mayas and later by British settlers to transport mahogany logs from the rainforest. The tour continues through other villages initially established as mahogany camps, on the way to the Howler Monkey Sanctuary. These villages are situated along the Belize River and provide a breathtaking view of the Belize district.
• Community Baboon Sanctuary - Upon arrival at the howler monkey sanctuary, guests have the opportunity to use the restroom. They are then introduced to the site guide, who will lead the tour. The guide begins by welcoming the guests and providing detailed information about the sanctuary inside the museum. Guests will then venture onto the rainforest trails to observe the fascinating black howler monkeys in their natural habitat. Accompanied by their site guide, they will also learn about various plants traditionally used as herbal remedies. Guests are welcome to take pictures if they wish. This is a fantastic activity to learn about and see one of the country’s protected wildlife species.
