Rosa Does It Again - Rosa was an amazing tour guide; incredibly competent, knowledgeable, and supportive. She was able to get us through ATM cave safely and respectfully, providing expert commentary along the way. She knew about the history, geology, and each foot/hand-hold. ATM was a major highlight of our trip, due in large part to Rosa. Thank you so much!!

Climbing through caves seeing ancient mayan artifacts - We went with Reggie and had the most amazing experience! He was very nice, and knew a TON about the artifacts, along with the geology in the cave. Highly recommend!!

Great tour, I recommend it. - Great tour with Gliss. We went on the 7am tour and had a great time. He explained lots of things during our route to the cave. The sights of the skeletons and pots are incredible. My most important suggestion: do not wear water shoes. It's a 30 minute walk to the cave. The path is flat, yes, but when you get to the cave you walk on plenty of rocks and having sneakers with good soles helps a bunch. Also, it's good to use pants if you're clumsy, as you might scrape a knee. Lunch was also good, with nachos, rice and beans, salad and roasted chicken. I recommend this tour.

A must experience - This tour was mind blowing. Francisco was the best guide ever. He was beyond knowledgeable and is from a Mayan heritage. He shared many personal stories from what his grandmother taught him. He kept us safe in the cave and went above and beyond to give us the best experience possible. Beware that this tour is not for the timid. The lunch was delicious and a huge portion. We were picked up at our hotel and delivered back at the end. I can't say more than National Geographic said about the cave. "It is the best in the world".

A must do activity in Belize! - We had an awesome time at the ATM caves. Gilroy is a fantastic guide - he is very knowledgeable and helped us navigate through the water in the caves with ease. Be prepared to wade through waist high water and at times you swim through water that is over your head. You definitely need water shoes or sneakers and for the last part, you take your shoes off and wear socks to preserve the Mayan ruins. It was a really fun experience! Bring a change of clothes and towel for afterwards and a water bottle. Tour ends with a delicious Belizean lunch.

Lives up to the Hype - Having read reviews that this was a bit of a physical trip through the caves, we were not sure what to expect. As a 55 y.o. man in slightly below-average shape, it was challenging. The spaces required some contorting and my body was certainly sore the following day. There was a person in our group that wore open-toed sandals at her insistence and I'm surprised that she came away with all of her toenails intact. A wrong slip in some places and she would have been in some serious pain. The food at the conclusion of the hike was scrumptious and it felt like we were being rewarded with a great picnic of chicken stew with white rice. We were fortunate to have Rose as our guide and she took care to check in with everyone regularly. Her knowledge of the cave system is impressive and she was an interesting person to chat with on the way to and from the cave. Anyone would be lucky to have her as their guide here at ATM or other places in Central America.

Rafael is the best tour guide - Rafael, who has a PhD in archaeology and has spent 30 years exploring the ATM Cave, was our tour guide. He was fantastic and I feel like I learned so much more than I would have with anyone else. Highly recommend. This tour was so much more than I expected. Definitely not for those out of shape or claustrophobic.

WOW. International Archeological Treasure. - Length of Visit: accurate to the stated time online. Experience: SO lucky to take this tour. Late December 2025 was raining a lot and ATM was closed due to flooding. Rescheduled to Jan 1st 2026. Slightly late pickup, but smooth ride and knowledgable and nice driver. Van was filled with 9 other people, so 12 people total. We arrived, were briefed, and we were on the earlier side. Our guide was the BEST. One of the few original, older generation guides since 1998. So, so knowledgeable and incredibly amazed to have him as a guide. The cave itself was incredible. One of the best things and well organized touring trips I have ever taken. Very lucky to be able to be in such a rare and special archeological site. The caving experience itself is not for faint of heart. While a majority of the caving is through caverns that feel like vast corridors, there are moments in which it tightens into a few different bottlenecks. If my memory serves me correctly, maybe 5. It ranges from hands and knees class 4 scrambling and stepping through some rocks, to paddling through small channels. At not point was I nervous for my safety, however I need to point out I am a rock climber with more experience than the average attendee. Having basic level of fitness and willingness to get through spaces similar to a children's play place tunnels for short periods. The guides are explaining everything as it happens and all of the rocks felt strong. There is some loose gravel and shifting rocks underwater, but equip yourself with a pair of socks and water shoes (preferably strong sandal, throwaway sneakers, NOT crocs). One precipice was accompanied with a rope and followed with a slightly steep climb in only the socks. What followed was INCREDIBLE, the archaeological sites at the end of the cavern are everything they say it is online. You need to see this. Followed by a delicious chicken and rice with juice. Thank so you so much. This is truly a national treasure and a great company that took us through that journey.

ATM is an absolutely phenomenal experience. - The ATM cave is one of the coolest things I’ve ever done in my entire life. I would recommend it to absolutely anyone. Swimming through the water and squeezing through the formations was so fun. The culture in the history behind it is incredible. Every single person who visits needs to do this. The only reason for four stars is because the driver the company hired was so painfully slow. Not even kidding you he went 5 mph. We were passed up constantly and this slow driving delayed our arrival time both to the cave and back in town.
