It is situated across from Benque Viejo Road, near the village of San Jose Succotz, just a few miles from Belize’s western border with Guatemala. Visitors can cross the Mopan River via a hand-cranked ferry. Once across, it’s a mile uphill to the site, which is accessible by foot or vehicle.
- Blue Hole National Park - The Blue Hole offers a cool and refreshing spot for an afternoon swim. It was created by the collapse of an underground limestone cave. The river that originally flowed through the cavern continues to run through the cave system, forming a sapphire-colored pool at the bottom of the sinkhole. The depression is approximately 100 feet deep and 300 feet in diameter, with the actual blue hole at the base of the depression reaching a depth of about 25 feet.

Take an air conditioned van on a beautiful ride through the jungles of the Maya mountains on your way to the ruins. After the tour of the site, you can shop for cultural gifts and souvenirs at ‘The Orange Gallery’.
Then a stop at one of our favorite local restaurants for authentic Mayan cuisine before a stop at the Blue Hole for a swim in crystal clear waters. (Not the Blue Hole that Scuba divers visit in the ocean)
