Ian Anderson’s Caves Branch Adventure Co - Begin your thrilling day at 9am as you depart from the lodge compound and journey into the foothills of the Maya Mountains. The hike from the trailhead to the summit of the Actun Loch Tunich sinkhole takes approximately 90 minutes. Get ready for some challenging hiking, but once you reach the Rim, the adventure only gets more exciting.
The 300ft descent into the sinkhole is equipped with safety helmets, harnesses, and safety lines, and your expert guides will ensure you are properly equipped and all checks are completed before you descend.
Savor lunch at the bottom of the sinkhole, then proceed to the area where you will set up camp for the night.

Designed to encompass the acclaimed Black Hole Drop, this journey takes you completely out of your regular trails and permits you to set camp at the striking rim stone dam entry of the Actun Loch Tunich river cave system. The camp is pitched inside the entrance and dinner is served. The exploration continues towards the upper crystal chambers which were the sacred venues of the ancient Maya. The following morning, post a robust breakfast, you descend another 400 feet along cave cliff faces on paths of the ancient Maya to the Actun Loch Tunich underground river, extending over 24 kilometers of mapped corridors.
