Berastagi - My time during Berastagi was enjoyable and well worth the drive over from bukwit lawang. Hendra is a knowledgeable and welcoming tour guide! He truly wants to deliver the best experience possible. Mt. Sibayak was exceptional -- very cool to see the volcano and the surrounding vegetation. Fairly easy hike up. We tried some local street food and it was delicious. Pick up from bukwit lawang and my drop off later in Medan at the airport was seamless and safe thanks to my driver Risky ! Despite the name, he was as safe as they come :) oh! And my stay organized by Hendra at the local hotel was absolutely phenomenal -- very comfortable sleep and great cafe !

Fabulous sunrise experience in Sibayak - The experience was amazing, I did the route alone, the Riski driver very friendly and good driver given the condition of the road. The Konong guide made me really enjoy the route at dawn, prepared a rich coffee on top and kept an eye on me the whole time. I definitely recommend this agency for its good work.

Amazing sunrise trek! - We had the most amazing time in the sunrise trek - our guide Anggi was the best!! He is so kind and knowledgeable and made us laugh. He gave us the option of how high we would like to walk and we then trekked to the highest point where although there were lots of clouds the view and sunrise was still amazing, we shared a hot beverage at the top and then visited the hot springs afterwards! I cannot recommend this tour and company enough we will definitely do it again if we return to Sumatra!

Gorgeous sunrise - We did the sunrise tour. It was just very nice. The guide was very professional, and very passionate. Also patient, and taking good care that everyone could keep up. Of course, the view is also just amazing. Truly an awe-inspiring experience!

Great experience accessible for all ages (the proof was at the top!) A must do when in northern Sumatra! - We had a great experience and cannot recommend this company enough. My partner and I were picked up just after 4am in a comfortable vehicle and driven to the base of Mt Sibayak where we met our guide Konong. We hiked up for just over an hour, though I think we did it quite fast as we were overtaking lots of groups. The climb was relatively easy, but of course things are a tad more tricky in the dark so I strongly recommend bringing a torch of some kind. We had a a headtorch and an iPhone torch which worked fine. At the top we were given a portable stove brewed coffee whilst enjoying watching the landscape uncloak itself from the night. After spending around an hour at the top, we headed down to the crator where we got close to the sulfur desposing holes before heading down the mountain through the lush greenery. Konong was extremely knowledgeable about the area and fauna and flora. Our driver from the morning was waiting for us at the base and then drove us down to a nearby village where we found the hot springs. A really cool experience, a bit like a communal swimming pool, but there is around 10/12 pools to choose from each with different temperatures in. Really nice to relax in there after the early start and hike up/down the mountain. After we were ready to go, we said goodbye to Konong and our driver dropped us back. 10/10 experience for us and something we won’t forget in a hurry! Thank you all team!!

Worth getting up early for - We did the half-day Mount Sibayak tour starting from Berastagi. After setting out at 4am, we arrived at the base camp via a short but bumpy 4x4 ride. We then trekked for about 90 minutes to the sunrise point using torches to guide our way. As we waited for sunrise at the top, our guide Anggi brewed us an amazing cup of coffee with local Sumatran beans to enjoy the view with. The crater of the volcano was definitely a highlight, with jets of sulphur gas adding their sound and smell to the atmosphere. Anggi was a great guide, very friendly and always sharing little bits of knowledge about the volcano and the local environment. He even brought his guitar out for a song while we were relaxing in the hot spring afterwards! There’s no shortage of volcanoes in Indonesia but this is definitely worth the trip if you are in northern Sumatra.

A Must do in Sumatra - Although we didn’t get to see the sunrise due to a heavy mist, the experience was still fantastic. The lake and mountain views seemed to appear and disappear with the shifting mist, creating a surreal atmosphere. It was truly an out-of-the-ordinary experience. Our guide was exceptional—he shared deep insights into the region, its culture, and much more. Thanks to him, we arrived at the summit just before everyone else, so we had the breathtaking view all to ourselves for a while. The hot spring bath at the end was another highlight, where tourists and locals alike come together to relax. Just remember to bring a swimsuit and towel for that part! Overall, an unforgettable experience.

Perfect volcano hike - Our sunrise hike was amazing! We got picked up from our homestay and driven closer to the trailhead. Our guide, Konong, was awesome! He knew all the great spots and where to go depending on the weather. He took some great pictures for us and was happy to wait for the clouds to pass. Would definitely recommend this trip! 👌

Top experience - It was a great experience! It costs a little more than when you book from your guesthouse, but instead you get a personal transport and private guide with lots of nature knowledge and love that takes care of that little extra than the others. So we think that is more than worth it! Make sure you have good walking shoes and good condition.

Hike is wonderful but Crater is nothing special - The hike is beautiful. I took my famly of 14 including mother and grandmother as well as my three year old kid (on my back in his carrier). It was raining so it wasn't very easy, but we all completed the trek! The end of the trek though is a little underwhelming since it's only a geyser and the top of the volcano just has a small lake and no lava. The crater is not very well defined so it's not the most majectic. But the hike itself is super fun. The best thing about the hike for me was the Pandan trees.
