Following the fall of the Nazis and the devastation of Berlin, the city saw the arrival of American, British, French, and Russian soldiers, who remained in Berlin for over 40 years.
As a result of losing World War II, Germany, and Berlin in particular, became a focal point of the ideological conflict between America and Russia known as the Cold War. Berlin transformed into a center for espionage and military operations, and it introduced the world to the iconic symbol of the Cold War—the Berlin Wall.
After years of tension, on November 9th, the people of Berlin dismantled the wall with their own hammers and tools, marking the end of communism and totalitarianism in Eastern Europe. Ten months later, Germany was reunified.
During the tour, anecdotes, stories of key figures, and the overall atmosphere of Berlin during that time will be shared. The stories will be presented in an engaging manner, accompanied by an A3 picture folder to provide a glimpse into what life looked and felt like in Cold War-era Berlin.
