Berlin Sachsenhausen Tour: Experience an exceptional tour event with an in-depth visit to Sachsenhausen! This is Birchy’s Berlin’s Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Memorial Tour. Concentration camps were a crucial tool in the Nazi regime’s reign of terror, and Sachsenhausen was particularly distinctive. It was the first concentration camp specifically constructed within the Third Reich and the nearest to Berlin. It is also among the most visited World War Two concentration camps globally.
This tour offers a comprehensive visit to the memorial camp. The journey begins in Berlin City Center, where participants will meet their guide, Aaron. Following this, a brief train ride will take them to the Sachsenhausen Camp Memorial.
Aaron has held an Official Certified Sachsenhausen Tour Guide License for many years and has participated in numerous courses, as well as trained other Berlin Guides. His extensive experience and unique historical knowledge of Sachsenhausen make this tour unparalleled!
Join Birchy or one of our expert guides on a public tour as we travel north of Berlin to visit Sachsenhausen, the closest concentration camp to the capital of the Third Reich.
The tour will explore how the concentration camp system evolved from makeshift prisons into purpose-built facilities, examining the various functions, crimes, experimentation, murder, and mass murder that occurred within (and sometimes beyond) the camp’s confines from the summer of 1936 until its liberation in late April 1945.
We will also examine the changing prisoner demographics leading up to and during the Second World War.
