Great Tour, Experienced and Personable Guide - The tour was superb and our guide Walid was great! Very personable and informative. He handled the challenging content of the tour well and I think the timing of each section was reasonable - you could easily spend days there but the tour captures the main points well. On the way back Walid went above and beyond, helping us and others get connecting trains and also gave us advice on our trip to Potsdam. Thanks!! Highly recommend this tour and especially with Walid :)

Moving experience - This is a difficult, harrowing tour but Walid managed to get the tone just right. Well worth doing but it is a long tour so take water / snacks.

Interesting & Poignant look at Germanys No1 concentration camp - What a great & interesting day. Alot of information given at correct times. Historical overviews stated and poignant references. A must see & do. Our guide (Walid-forgive me if the name is spelt wrong) was exceptional. He took care of us from starting point to leaving, making sure all knew what & where to go after tour. He also has a great knowledge of 80’s ROCK! Bless U for that. Hope to see u again🤘

From the very beginning our guide Walid was helpful by making sure we all had the correct train ticket and were clear on our travel instructions. He shared his wealth of knowledge with us throughout the trip and handled the difficult subject matter well. We would absolutely recommend this tour.

Knowledgeable guides but consideration for elderly and infirm lacking - TL;DR: knowledgeable guides, but exercise extreme caution unless you are physically fit. I booked this tour with my daughter as part of our Holocaust themed tour. For context, I am 80 years old; my daughter is a 50-year professor. Full disclosure: my daughter is writing this review because I sat this one out having visited Ravensbruck (highly recommended). Thank god I did. Per my daughter, the 10:00 tour didn’t board the trains until after 10:30. The promised bus was replaced with a 15-minute walk through Oranienberg to Sachsenhausen, and the same is true of the return trip. Arrival to camp took two hours when 45 minutes would suffice. Had I been there, I would not have been able to keep up, and this history is important for everyone, regardless of age or injury. What’s worse is this: one gentleman who was afraid of being left behind was - wait for it - left behind because he could not keep up. Consider the message of this tour: learning about dehumanization to prevent it from happening again. Never again, correct? When the tour guide noted they were missing “New Jersey” and “Ireland” from the return train, it was actually an appalling microcosm of dehumanization in action. Saying “we’re all adults” and “there’s another train in 20 minutes” is useless if this information has not been previously communicated. It had not. That said, if you are a young, healthy adult who can keep up a demanding (not moderate) pace, the guides are extremely knowledgeable. My daughter learned some new things (a rarity in our trip or concentration camp tours), and the pedagogy is excellent for both novices and advanced students of the Holocaust. We’ve been on our grand tour for about two weeks so far and this tour fostered more community than most. Community plus learning is powerful, so brava for that. This could be a five star tour if there were a bit more attention paid to the needs of the humans who select it.
