Its lovely beaches, such as Ayazma beach, attract many visitors from the city. The Water Sports Club features an Olympic pool. Hristos Monastery, built by Byzantine emperor Romanus IV (Diogenes) during his exile, is located on a hill and is open to the public only on Fridays. Degirmen is a pleasant picnic area facing Kasik island. The island also offers a public beach in a lovely cove and a water sports club. Numerous restaurants and cafeterias around the pier serve local dishes and fresh fish. The island remains busy in winter due to schools and a sanatorium, with many trekking and hiking trails through the hills and pine groves.

Historical sites include Aya Yorgi Church and Monastery from the 6th century, Ayios Dimitrios Church, Hristos Church and Monastery, and Hamidiye Mosque built by Ottoman Sultan Abdulhamit II. Visitors can choose a long or short route to explore the island by renting a horse-drawn carriage. The northern part is a densely populated residential area near the pier, while the southern part is calm and forested, attracting private yachts.
