Along the way, historical insights about the area are shared, with a 15-minute stop at the lava tube. The adventure continues on a thrilling 4WD lava flow to a scenic lookout point, offering more historical context and excellent photo opportunities, with another 15-minute stop. The journey proceeds through an ancient Kiawe forest on a dirt trail, leading to a vast lava flow at Paakea Bay, where a 20-30 minute break under a shade tree allows for lunch or snacks. Next, the tour heads to Ka’alualu Bay to view green sand, a perfect spot for photos, with a 10-minute stop. The tour then includes a cliff drive along the ocean to Pulehua Island, where a hike onto a peninsula reveals green sea turtles and tropical fish, offering the best photo opportunity of the tour. There is a chance to spot Mr. Blue, the resident Parrot fish, during the 15-minute stop. The tour concludes with a return trip up the trail, followed by a clean-up with towels and a hose.

The Southpoint area is where the first Hawaiians arrived on the Big Island. It’s beautiful, warm, sunny, and occasionally windy. You’ll traverse rugged lava flows and grassy fields, ancient Kiawe forests, and encounter all the natural flora and fauna of The Big Island. Enjoy the stunning aqua coastline with crashing waves that are perfect for photos, especially when the surf is up! If you’re on a winter tour, you might even spot a whale or two. You’ll see colorful tropical fish and green sea turtles from the rugged lava cliffs as you gaze into Shark Bay. We also offer private family tours, so book in advance to ensure availability for you and your family. Soak up some sun and have some fun! Let’s go! The ATVs you’ll be riding are top-of-the-line CF MOTO Cforce Quads, featuring power steering and automatic shifting. These ATVs are the Cadillacs of their kind.

Go to the end of Ka'alualu Rd. where the pavement ends keep going for aprox 300 feet. First gray gate on the left. address is 94-1400. Go thru the gate follow gravel driveway to the end. Be there at 11:30. NO public restrooms. Stop at the Punaluu bakery for restrooms before arrival. :Closed shoes .

Awesome ATV ride - I have done a few ATV tours in various locations around the world, this one is by far my best experience. Locations visited are incredible and it has some challenges in some dirt road parts which makes it very fun. The guide was great

A Must Do - We were looking for a unique and unforgettable experience on the Big Island and definitely found it. Our ATV trip was fun with so much to see - one favorite was when we stopped on an ocean cliff and peered down to spot turtles. It didn’t disappoint. We saw two turtles and a couple tropical fish. Our guide was kind and full of knowledge about the area. The quad was very dependable, easy to operate, and handled the terrain well. We give our experience an A+.

Fantastic ATV Excursion - Fantastic ATV ride. Great scenery and great history lesson about the area. Got to see a lava tube, historical Hawaiian wall built hundreds of years ago. Beautiful coastline with a beautiful bright blue fish. Tour operator was fantastic. Made sure we were safe and even gave us a hose and towels to clean up. Yes, you will be dusty. But so worth it. Simply loved it.

Best ATV tour we’ve ever done! - Fun and exhilarating!!!
Directions to our meeting location was clear and precise. Equipment was clean and ready upon our arrival. Vickie was very thorough in explaining the operation of the vehicles. So refreshing to have a woman tour guide!
The ATVs we rode were top notch handling the tough terrain. Nice big storage compartment to put your stuff, including water and snacks. The ride was SO MUCH FUN!!! Lots of bumps, gravel, rocks, sand. We made several stops. The first was to learn a bit about the history of the area and the flora around us. The next several was to take in the breathtaking scenery and photo ops!The area is nice and remote so you really get to see the natural beauty of the area. The green sand is just so pretty, unlike sand anywhere else.
We’ve been on numerous ATV tours around the world. This definitely ranks as one of the BEST!! Vickie was a great guide. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!’

Amazing Adventure!!! - My husband and I were traveling with our best friends. We had so much fun!!!! Our guide was amazing! She explained the safety precautions and operation of the ATVs very clearly. She is so friendly and knowledgeable about the Hawaiian culture and plant life. We made stops along the route to the ocean so she could share her knowledge about what we were seeing. The ride along the ocean was absolutely breathtaking and the ride to and from was exciting, up and over rocky territory with good speed!! We didn’t want the trip to end!!! We would definitely do this trip again if we get to revisit Hawaii! 😁 Thank you for such an amazing adventure!!!

Fun on the Southside - We had the pleasure of being the only two in the tour. Our guide, Vicky, was great! At each stop she shared interesting facts about the area, the flora, and the Hawaiian culture. The trails were very manageable, easy enough for a novice but not so boring for an experienced rider ( like us). The scenery is breathtaking, and we even saw Mr Blue and turtles. Highly recommend. Mahalo Vicky for a fun filled afternoon!

Fun experience, great views, rocky terrain - Wonderful 3-hour experience led by Vicky with family of 4 (two teenage daughters). Would highly recommend!
We had a private tour through volcanic, rocky terrain down to the ocean and back to start point. Vicky provided quick training at the onset and was flexible in getting us on the ATVs of our choosing. She provided the right amount (not too much) of training at the onset, and we were off! There was only a little commentary / education during stops, but this was perfect for us. The route is rigorous with large volcanic rocks everywhere, so top speeds are about 10-12 mph. My daughter had a problem with the power steering of her ATV, but as soon as Vicky learned of the situation, she swapped ATVs and used the broken one, which solved the problem. I estimate we rode for 2.5 of the 3-hour trip. The views at the ocean were beautiful! But, by the end we were all very tired. The trip is not for the faint of heart. In retrospect, the route might have been too rigorous. But, it was fun and I would recommend to anyone interested in a rigorous experience. Oh, and you get really dirty, so just be prepared.
