Excellent! A must- do experience!!! - Evan was awesome - he got us set up on kayaks, was very knowledgeable, we were able to see some spinner dolphins (from an appropriate distance). The snorkeling exceeded our expectations! So many different fish and coral! Evan helped us identify the fish as we described them to him. 5 out of 5 stars - don't miss it!

Great snorkeling with a great crew! - We met Brock at the Kona Boys Shack in Kona. His easygoing manner and lack of “hard sell” was refreshing so we signed up for the Morning Magic kayaking excursion in Kealakekua Bay to the Captain Cook Monument. We arrived at 7am to the Kona Boys main location and were warmly greeted by Frank. Our guides for the day were Evan and Michael. The kayak trip across the bay was beautiful. And Evan’s knowledge of the history and flora and fauna made the trip and the day so much more special. We felt like we were among friends. I can’t recommend Kona Boys enough.

Very educational and respectful to the environment. Highly recommended! - A fabulous trip with the very knowledgeable guide - Evan. We loved the approach that the company takes in terms of respecting the island, and its inhabitants, and the work that is being done to preserve it. We caught of a glimpse of some Spinner Dolphins and saw plenty of colourful marine life when snorkelling. A trip I would highly recommend taking if you would like to hear the full story of Captain Cook and his sad ending.

Wonderful Excursion - Thanks a lot Kona Boys, after our excursion with you on the Magic Morning Kayak and Snorkeling Adventure, every other tour we did on the Big Island and Kauai was lackluster. Everyone that we interacted with from the Kona Boy Shack, the owner and especially Evan our excursion guide was exceptional!! I would recommend anyone to do this excursion. Being inexperienced kayak and snorkelers he made the adventure fun, informative and made us feel safe. Evan is a truly kind human. Thanks again. Mahalo and Aloha

Great experience. - We had a great time kayaking out and snorkeling at the Captain Cook monument. Our guides Bamm and Michael were awesome. They were very knowledgeable about the area and its history. I was impressed with all of the conservation efforts being made by the Kona Brothers to help restore the coral. The group size is small and we got out to the area before the big tour groups. The highlight was seeing the spinner dolphins jumping out of the water near us as we paddled back. Lunch was great too!

Unique and rewarding way to kayak and snorkel Kealakekua Bay - If you are looking to snorkel or kayak in the world famous Kealakekua Bay and Cpt Cook memorial area, this is the best choice. It’s a unique way to combine a short kayak trip with an extraordinary snorkel experience, plus have a tasty lunch while actually learning about the bay and some Hawaiian history. Tour guide Bamm is knowledgeable, helpful, engaging and most of all very committed to having a safe but fun experience while respecting the natural environment. Our group was only 5 people vs the larger commercial boat groups which can range from 12-50 people at a time. The kayak out to the reef was about one mile, done leisurely with no rush and not very strenuous. The water was calm and clear. The trip starts very early, but that gives you about a 45 min lead on all the commercial boat tours so you have the reef to snorkel all to yourself for the most part. You dock the kayaks at the captain cook memorial so you’re not swimming in and out of the kayak directly. It’s cool to relax at the memorial site which is not accessible by snorkelers who arrive by commercial boat. You return the way you came, with a relaxing kayak back across the water and conclude near a park area with bathrooms and showers. All in all this is a very unique and ‘local’ way to both kayak and snorkel in the same experience. Plus have a very experienced guide provide a deeper awareness of the natural beauty around you. The Kona Boys have been around for decades and are part of an effort to restore and revitalize the bay. Mahalo Bamm and Kona Boys.

What a fun morning! - This was our second time with Kona Boys for the same tour, 4 years apart. Bamm was our wonderful guide. We were well informed about the marine life and the preservation effort Kona Boys make to replenish the coral population. Lunches were tasty and we appreciated the effort to accommodate to our vegetarian diet. The nice cold drinks were a nice touch. Thank you Bamm for another memorable kayak experience across the bay to a beautiful snorkeling spot.
