Snorkeling or diving in close proximity to Manta Rays is genuinely a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Recognized as one of the top ten dive sites globally by National Geographic, the Kona Coast of Hawaii is arguably the premier location for this incredible activity. Manta Rays are gentle giants and among the most graceful creatures in nature. We will guide you to a location where they gather to feed in the evening. Our lights attract plankton, which in turn draws the Manta Rays as they feast on these tiny organisms. Sounds exciting? That’s because it truly is. Manta Rays are completely harmless.
For snorkelers, the group will float on the surface using our custom-built board with spotlights illuminating these creatures swimming below. Observe as these magnificent creatures glide beneath you, performing somersaults and spins.

Snorkelers will enjoy floating on the surface together on a specially designed board, with spotlights illuminating the fascinating creatures swimming below. Marvel as these stunning animals glide beneath, performing somersaults and spins. Certified divers can look forward to an easy night dive, primarily kneeling on the sandy ocean floor at a depth of no more than 30 feet, surrounded by lights.
This adventure package includes all necessary gear (mask, snorkel, fins, and a wetsuit if requested), along with snacks, beverages, and a delightful lunch. Sunscreen and towels are also provided.

Wonderful experience with rays under you! - We did a private Manta Ray Night Snorkel with Kona Ocean Adventures and had a fantastic time! Janet was amazing in helping us see the rays and positioning us with other boats. She was also really informative and just a great presence.
Seeing the rays swim under us was wild - they are so huge and majestic!
Just an overall note: You may want to take Dramamine ahead of time because the ride (no matter who the vendor is) is choppy to the area with rays.

10000/10 Highly Recommend - It’s hard not to enjoy this experience. It’s quite incredible to witness the manat rays swim right over you. This company has some of the brightest lights of all the operators the mantas came right over to ours once we set them up. The crew was amazing including my guide Kate who all made me feel really safe. The hot towel & refreshments were top notch 👌🏻🔥

Highlight of my trip! Memories for life!!! - This manta ray night snorkel was absolutely incredible and easily one of the highlights of my trip. Seeing the mantas up close in the water was surreal - such a magical, once-in-a-lifetime experience that I’ll never forget.
The entire crew at Kona Ocean Adventures was fantastic. Katelyn and Laura were incredibly professional, calm, and attentive from start to finish. The boat ride was smooth, everything felt very organized, and they truly took their time to make sure everyone was comfortable and safe. They consistently checked in on us, explained everything clearly, and created such a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
What made this even more special is that this wasn’t my first experience with them, I did a reef snorkel and dolphin watch tour last year and loved it so much that when I came back to Kona, I couldn’t wait to go out with them again. This experience completely lived up to (and honestly exceeded) my expectations.
If you’re considering a snorkel or ocean adventure in Kona, I can’t recommend Kona Ocean Adventures enough. Professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do - I’ll absolutely be back again.

Manta ray night snorkel and sunset boat ride ! - Did the manta rays with Capt Danny and Kate . It's was an awesome adventure the crew was very informative and knowledgeable and extremely helpful with getting me comfortable going in the water at night . I felt safe and taken care of ! The mantas were right below our board the entire time !!! Totally recommend it and will do it again !

Awesome and kind adventure crew with some of the best service. - Top notch adventure crew with some of the best service. We went out on the night snorkel with the manta rays, only saw 2 of them but the crew was very knowledgeable, fun and very friendly. They had a cooler with drinks and snacks. They were very considerate to kids on the boat and it felt like we were in really good hands.
I had forgotten a blue snorkel, mask and fins on their boat and they really worked to get those back to me. I was soo happy to be onboard with them and would definitely recommend using this company.

One of the best dives of my life!!! - We had a two tank dive with Mac and he was wonderful!! The first was a lovely reef dive followed by a night dive with manta rays. It was one of the most magical experiences. Huge mantas were gracefully swimming all around us, so close we had to duck!!! Kona Ocean Adventures only takes small groups and service was very personalized. I couldn’t recommend this tour operator any higher and I’d absolutely go diving with this team again!!!

Incredible Dive with Mantas! - We had an incredible experience diving with Kate at Kona Ocean Adventures! Kate was our dive master and was very knowledgeable, friendly, and made our experience unforgettable! We saw lots of different fish and were lucky enough to see dolphins, whales, and a seal! Overall, the manta ray night dive was truly one of the most incredible dive experiences we’ve ever had and we cannot wait to return to dive again in the future with Kona Ocean Adventures!

Great experience! - We had an amazing experience with Kona Ocean Adventures! The staff were awesome—-very informative, professional, and fun. We saw a ton of manta rays up close. The smaller group made the trip much more personal and easy. Highly recommend this company!

Manta ray - Mac and Troy were an amazing crew! They make the experience unforgettable by taking their tours in small groups and timing their arrival to the site perfectly.
We saw 3 mantas , the eel hunting and a large puffer fish . Along with the boat ride which included dolphins and a magical sunset. Thank you again
