- Chain of Craters Road - While there are 7 craters along this road, it’s really about the destinations it leads to. We’ll travel this road to reach other spots.
- Mauna Ulu - A major eruption here significantly altered the park’s landscape. We’ll view Mauna Ulu from a distance and explore the lava from this prolonged eruption up close.
- Kilauea Iki Trail - This is the park’s most popular hike. We don’t always have time for it, but if you’re up for the challenge, I’m in! Alternatively, you can return after the tour to complete it.

Amazing Private Volcano Experience! - I would highly recommend this tour! Joel was an incredible guide and his personal touch and passion for the park made this an unforgettable experience. He is extremely knowledgeable and truly curates a unique, customized experience. He not only brings you to the highlight spots, but so many hidden gems, and makes sure to show you anything specific that you want to see. Joel was also a great photographer for the day, helping to take special photos of my wife and I at the spots he knew would deliver great photos and also at any time we asked the throughout the tour. We would never have been able to find, navigate to, or find parking in all of the special places across the park that we were able to experience with Joel. His SUV used for the tour was very clean and comfortable and made getting through the park such very smooth ride to and from the spots where we would get out and walk around. He provided soft drinks and snacks, including homemade cookies made by his wife, Kim, which was such a wonderful touch making it feel like you were out with a friend and not a tour guide. Joel made this an excellent experience and a true highlight of our trip to Hawaii!

He was so accommodating and made sure everyone felt comfortable throughout the tour. Joel was full of fascinating information about the park, history, and volcanoes, and he shared it in such an engaging way. It really made the visit extra special — highly recommend booking with him!

Joel was awesome and very passionate about teaching about the volcano and surrounding area. We’d highly recommend him! - Joel communicated very well prior to picking us up at our hotel. He had snacks (his wife even made us cookies) and a clean spacious ford expedition for our family of five. He engaged with our kids well. The trip was very emgaging and informative. We hit all the great sites around the park and hiked on the lava rock. He set us up for great family pictures that he took. Unfortunately the volcano did not erupt that day, but he kept us informed and texted us as soon as it did in order to alert is to head back and check out active lava! He guided us along the way to avoid traffic and crowds. It was a once in a lifetime experience. You should choose Joel to guide you!

Highly recommend! - Great tour - lots of amazing history/stories and we hit a lot of places we would not have known to go on our own. Joel was amazing! Even messaged us the night before with a live stream of the volcano erupting. We couldn’t get there the but the thoughtfulness of letting us know and the livestream share was amazing! Even left us at the end with tree to table chocolate bars! 12/10!!! Highly recommend.

Amazing tour! - Joel was an amazing tour guide for my husband and I at Volcanoes National Park! He was very informative and fun and brought us to places we wouldn't have figured out to go to had we tried to explore the park on our own. He also took some amazing pictures of us as well, and he provided snacks and drinks. I would 100% recommend Joel as a private tour guide!

Exciting, fun and Informative - Joel was so nice and helped us understand much about the Volcano. We were pleasantly surprised about the lava tube, history, trees, and ferns. The cookies were also fantastic. Thanks.

Perfect amount of info and time commitment for us! - Family of four (adult kids) all enjoyed. Joel, our guide provided park highlights and just enough information about the history of the park/volcanoes, indigenous significance, lava tubes, geology, flora. Knowing park roads and where to park was a time saver. Beverage and light snack appreciated too.

Best volcano tour - What a great experience! Joel was very knowledgeable, helpful, and the perfect volcano tour guide! We had two kids 11 and 12 with us and they were fully engaged! We would not have seen nearly as much without Joel and would have lost out on so many interesting facts! Next time we are here we will definitely do the same tour!
