Follow the rules to be safe and respectful - This tour was a lot of fun. David and Devin did a great job of explaining what and where we could go while in the water. I was very impressed by this company for pulling some of the people out of the water that were not following the rules. I am glad they did this because they are helping to preserve the reef for future generations. Since you are going to be around the reef they ask that you sunscreen at least twenty minutes ahead of time. One person in our tour went to put on sunscreen on the boat and they told them to wipe it off as it would not have time to soak into the skin. We id get to see quite a bit of fish and reef. I was more impressed by our tour operator for making sure everyone followed the rules.

Amazing experience for our family- completely unforgettable 🏝️🌊🤙🩵🫶 - We had a a fantastic time with our family and I even got to see a Manta during the day snorkeling trip! What a treat🤙🫶🌊 Our captain Adam and his crew mate, a younger fellow whose name I cannot recall ( we did the 8am tour on 6/30/25) were both fantastic - they both had great attitudes and were extremely helpful while giving us some excellent history lessons along the way and back. Thank you!

The guys were great, full recommend! - We snorkeled, saw dolphins, got great cave info, saw a dude jump off a cliff, learned about the tropic bird, and even heard some amazing rock based jokes! All in all I’d recommend this tour to any and everyone looking for any of the aforementioned! I can’t even swim and made it back alive, so that’s saying something!

Feels like you are out with friends! - I booked this snorkle trip for myself and my family (with kids aged 11,13, and 18). I am so glad I booked this one and not one of the larger tours! The tour size was onky about 15 people and 2 crew members, Captian David Corley and Chip. The small size made it feel like we were out for the day with friends instead of strangers. The water is cooler than Kona but warmer than Carlsmith (4 mile) in Hilo so my younger boys only snorkled for a short while before they crawled back into the boat and spent the time chatting with Chip and the captain. The reef is beautiful and I really appreciated all of the Captain and Chip's knowledge of the reef and the history surrounding the bay and the island in general. There were so many different types of fish and the reef is even more beaitiful than I always imagined! On the way back in we ate some pineapple while they shared the story of Captain Cook with us and then showed us some of their favorite spots along the island that you just can't see any other way (another perk of a smaller tour!) We went at 4:30 pm and the weather was perfect and we basically had the bay all to ourselves which was awesome! My whole family had an awsome time! Thank you Catain David and Chip y'all are amazing!

Incredible Experience (10/10 recommend) - My wife and I had an incredible experience with Cole and Eric! They provided a fun and safe environment with great storytelling about history related to the Kealakekua Bay and places along the way back. If you have issues with your booking being canceled without notice due to a lack of the minimum number of participants, please call Hawaiian Island & Ocean Tours directly! They took excellent care of us and ensured that we had a great experience at another time. I would highly recommend their services anytime I visit the Big Island.

Eric and Chip Handled it very well! - Eric was super professional during the tour which only lasted 30 minutes of severe drama from a group of people who didnt read their booking, stood on the rope so we couldn’t go on OUR way, they were screaming at Eric and Chip, It was very concerning and dangerous HOWEVER ERIC AND CHIP HANDLED IT VERY WELL! We will book again for sure! We didn’t get to go however we do get to go on another tour later. Mahalo and thank you!

We didn't realize where... - We didn't realize where you board the boat is different then where the ships tender drop you off. Our fault but FYI. Easy enough though to get an Uber to take you from one to the other. Once there, it was smooth. Although make sure you book directly from the tour company or use Viator. There were 4 girls that booked from travel advisor and they didn't have the confirmation and there was no room. Make sure you can swim to go on as we had a lady who didn't and we gave to turn around as she was scared of how fast the boat went. My husband and I loved it but expect it to be fast and open air and very bouncy. Once we got there, we had a little over an hour for snorkeling. We saw a lot of different species and water was clear. There were some areas where the current might have made the view a little wavy under the water. Must fleeting and was a great location. The hawaiian pineapple as a snack was delicious.

An unforgettable experience - It was amazing I saw so many fish. The reef was beautiful and the crew were really nice and friendly. Thanks Chip and Erik. I saw yellow tangs, Achilles tangs, parrot fish, a snowflake eel and so many more. Definitely bring your waterproof camera. The reef is shallow and doesn’t require any diving to have a an amazing time. The gear provided was great the mask and snorkel worked perfectly. They provided floatation belts for anyone uncomfortable with the water. I wouldn’t recommend taking young kids on this tour boat. The boat was open and you just sat on the sides. Overall it was amazing and if you are on the fence. Pull the trigger.
