• Lalgarh Palace and Museum - Constructed between 1902 and 1926, this palace showcases a blend of Rajput, Mughal, and European architectural styles. It was commissioned by the British-controlled regency for Maharaja Ganga Singh (1881-1942) during his minority and named after his father, Maharaja Lall Singh. The three-story structure is adorned with red sandstone sourced from the Thar Desert. The complex boasts grand pillars, ornate fireplaces, Italian colonnades, and intricate lattice and filigree work. Currently, the palace houses The Shri Sadul Museum in its west wing, along with the world’s fourth-largest private library and the residence of the Bikaner royal family.
• Junagarh Fort - Unlike most major forts in Rajasthan, this one is not situated on a hilltop. It was constructed during the reign of Raja Rai Singh, the sixth ruler of Bikaner, who governed from 1571 to 1611 AD, with completion in 1594. Despite numerous attempts to seize the fort, it remained unconquered, except for a brief one-day occupation by Kamran Mirza, the second son of Mughal Emperor Babur. In the ensuing battle, the Mughals were defeated by the Rathors. Spanning 5.28 hectares, the fort encompasses several palaces, temples, and pavilions, reflecting a variety of architectural styles.
