Wonderful trip - something for everyone! - An amazing and informative day trip from Bilbao with an impressive guide, Borja. We learned so much about the Basque culture! This trip was the perfect mix of walking the route San Juan De Gaztelugatze, visiting the local fishing village Bermeo for a delicious lunch and learning about the legends of the town and ending with the history of Gernika and the Basque traditions. Thank you!

Day Trip---May 2025 - This was a great day trip! The guide, Paola, was awesome and very knowledgeable about the places we visited, and she made everyone feel welcome, by engaging in conversations with the guests. San Juan---unbelievably gorgeous....it is a tough hike, but well worth it Bermeo- beautiful little fishing town on the coast where we had lunch and had free time. Very beautiful Gernika---beautiful town...learned about Picasso and the history of Gernika If you are in Bilbao or the Basque Country in general, these three things are absolutely worth it and necessary to really see the beauty and history of the region! Cannot recommend enough!

Cultural and historical very interesting excursion - Paula was a perfect guide who provided a lot of information about the Basque Country and the individual stations. The excursion was very balanced between free time to use and guided tours.

Visit of 10 - In short 10/10. Must-see places on a visit to Bilbao and more from a guide like the one we got. A pure-bred Basque, he was able to transmit his roots, history and culture with great enthusiasm... Grateful and recommend 100%

A very pleasant trip with a passionate guide! - It was a very pleasant day! The guide was very friendly and attentive. The Guide had a lot of knowledge that he shared passionately with us. Although a lot of information (maybe sometimes a little too long) came at us at a very fast pace, there was also enough attention for breaks and free time. The walk in the morning was breathtakingly beautiful but very intense. A stylish walk that you can take at your own pace. In short, you were taken care of by the guide, he made clear agreements and was very punctual in this! We found this trip less suitable for younger children or people with bad knees. 😏

Interesting and informative! - Really enjoyed our tour! The main stop is San Juan de Gaztelugatze (about 2.5h) and it’s an incredible natural and cultural wonder - really special place. While initially a little challenging to hear over the bus speakers, I increasingly appreciated the passion, knowledge and exuberance of our guide over the course of the day. Bermeo was essentially a 2h lunch stop and self-guided exploration, and then we learned a ton about the sobering history of devastating bombing (1937) of Gernika as well as the political history and distinct independent identity of the Basque people. Super solid day! Would recommend. Note that the hike to San Juan, to fully see it, requires physical exertion- you steeply descend 200m to the bridge, climb about 100 up to the church, and then climb back up. If you have physical limitations, injuries, etc., it might be challenging.

I did it!!! - It was a challenge to do the 241 steps plus but I did it. Our guide Borjas was excellent. He provided a lot of history, said jokes and was passionate about the Basque country. I learned a lot from him which I appreciate.

Get ready for a work out! - Going up San Juan De Gaztelugatze and having an amazing view. Very passionate tour guide. Amazing good value 3 course lunch for 15 euros at Bermeo. It would have been good if the tour guide made a booking for the group to go into the Assembly house of Gernika as most didn’t manage to go in.

Active day with beautiful views and with lots of information about the Basque people - The walk to San Juan De Gatzelugatze was beautiful. It was hot around 28 degrees so it was sweating a lot. You have to be reasonably fit to make the trip with this temperature. But we thought it was definitely worth it. What a view. The village of Bermeo was also very cozy with a beautiful harbor, cheerfully colored houses and plenty of choice of restaurants. Gernika was also interesting although our children between the ages of 16 and 21 thought otherwise. Our tour guide could tell very interesting about the places we visited and about the Basque people.
