Great food tour of Bilbao - Gonzalo took us on an amazing food tour of Bilbao combining interesting cultural and historical facts with some great food and drink stops. He adapted the tour to ensure everyone got to eat things they liked but also try new dishes.
We visited places we would never have found ourselves and Gonzalo’s knowledge, humour and personality made this one of the best food tours we’ve done.
Definitely go on this food tour if you are visiting Bilbao and do it early in your trip so you can take advantage of the recommendations of places to eat.

Fab food and fun experience - Amazing experience with a fantastic host. We got to try foods and different types of aperitifs we wouldn’t normally order, in places we would not have found on our own. Informal and relaxed and lots of fun. We are looking forward to going back to the venues after our food tour. Thanks again Gonzalo

- Our guide Gonzalo wound us through the streets of Casco Viejo (Old City) and the left bank of Bilbao for the Feasting in the Basque Come Back City Tour. Can’t say enough good things about Gonzalo. He was informative about his home country, but also curious about who we are and the food we enjoy. This set the stage for the establishments we visited and the food he ordered for us. We had a variety of creative pintxos, cheeses, wines, beer, cider, coffee and pastries. He taught us about the history, language and food of the Basque Country, and described the buildings we passed along the way. He created an experience that made the food so much more interesting. We visited places only a local foodie would know about. Every place was different and delicious.
We look forward to enjoying the tours Culinary Backroads offers in other cities. Highly recommend.

Amazing experience! - We love love loved our Culinary Backstreets tour in Bilbao! We ate SO much delicious food over the course of the day, but the tour was very well paced so you didn’t get too uncomfortably full before the next stop. Gonzalo was one of the best guides we’ve ever had. He was so knowledgeable about Bilbao and the Basque region, and tailored the stops we went to based on things we said we were interested in trying. You can tell he has deep passion for the food and culture of the Basque Country and it was absolutely infectious! Highly recommend this tour for anyone coming to Bilbao!

Fabulous food in Bilbao - We spent the most enjoyable day with Gonzalo. No one in our group had been to Bilbao before, and we booked this tour to see as much of the city as possible during our stay and to get a feel for the food and beverages of the city. Our favorite foods included brioche pastry (that Gonzalo provided as we began), black squid with ink, chorizo sandwiches, delicious cheese and wine, vermouth, and desserts. We learned about the history of the city and its traditions and saw many areas of town. I highly recommend this tour as a great experience, with excellent value for the money - and a plentiful amount of food! Gonzalo is a welcoming and knowledgeable guide.

Memorable Experience - What a memorable gastronomic experience! Gonzales was our guide and took us to the best hidden gems in the city. He chose interesting, yet delicious foods and drinks for us to try. The quantities were plentiful! We walked the city while learning about its history, culture, and cuisine, making this trip even more memorable than expected. I highly recommend!

Awesome Bilbao Food Tour! - Another awesome food tour with Culinary Backstreets! We love doing food tours and CB is our go to source when traveling in Europe. Our guide Kaya was wonderful—thorough, answered our many questions, made several recommendations, found info for us, accommodated a vegetarian, etc. Would give this tour and Kaya 10/5 if we could!! 🥳

Great food tour - Excellent tour of Bilbao food scene. We tasted many different unique dishes, all of them were great,including the different wines. Tour guide Gonzalo was great in explaining both the culinairy history and other history of Bilbao. Would recommend!

Great food tour in Bilbao! - We had a great time with Gaia and Gonzalo. Nice pacing and unique dishes. We tasted lots of different things and also had good drinks to go with it. Would definitely recommend!
