Meet at the airport or hotel, and let’s embark on our journey! On the first day, we’ll travel through the Chuy Valley from east to west.
Burana Tower - The Burana Tower is a significant historical and architectural landmark from the late 10th and early 11th centuries. Situated 15 kilometers from Tokmok, it was once part of the town and citadel of Balasagun. This archaeological site included a citadel, mausoleums, a mosque, a church, and a bathhouse, with numerous archaeological treasures discovered there. The tower, constructed from red bricks, stands 25 meters tall, with a base diameter of 9 meters and a top diameter of 6 meters. Inside, a narrow staircase leads to the top. Inscriptions and chronicles by Mukhammed Khaidar suggest the tower was built for Balasagun Legislator Imam Muhammad. The Kalyan Minaret in Bukhara, the western capital of the Karakhanids, was constructed in 1127 and reaches 46.7 meters. It is believed that Usto Bako, the same architect, designed both the Burana and Kalyan Minarets. Visitors can climb this tower!
Chon-Kemin National Park - From Burana Tower, the journey continues to the Chon-Kemin Valley. Renowned as one of Kyrgyzstan’s most picturesque areas, the Chon-Kemin Valley is a favorite among extreme sports enthusiasts. Its namesake river flows through the Kungei-Ala-Too and Iliysky Ala-Too mountain ranges, extending over 70 miles and featuring seven lakes in its basin. The Chon-Kemin National Park, a protected area rich in diverse flora and fauna, is located here. The valley’s sides are lined with conifer forests, home to various herbs, berries, and mushrooms.
Chon-Kemin - Kochkor - Song-Kul Lake is today’s itinerary.
Kochkor - In Kochkor, a visit to a small local museum is planned. The families of this village have contributed their old items to the museum, allowing tourists to see how Kyrgyz people lived and what they used. At the same location, felt products are made, and visitors can even try making felt themselves (for an additional fee).
Song-Kul - At the end of the day, the journey reaches Lake Song-Kul. This high-altitude lake is part of the Naryn River basin, located in the central part of the Song-Kul Valley, surrounded by the Songköl Too ridge to the north and the Borbor Alabas and Moldo Too mountains to the south. The Song-Kul basin is characterized by limited surface stream flows and significant subsurface flow. Four perennial rivers—Kumbel, Aktash, Tashdöbö, and Karakeche—flow into the lake. In the southeast, the structural high is cut by the river Kajyrty (also called Song-Köl in its upper course), which flows into the Naryn. Here, accommodations are in a Kyrgyz National Portable House, known as a Yurt, similar to those used by Kyrgyz people for ages. Experience the nomadic lifestyle and enjoy the view of thousands of stars at night.
After breakfast, enjoy the scenery, take photos, and perhaps organize a horse ride or participate in national horse games.
Tash Rabat - After many kilometers through stunning mountains, with numerous photo stops after two high mountain passes (Moldo Ashuu and Mels Ashuu), the journey arrives at Tash-Rabat, a 10th-11th century caravanserai. Tash-Rabat was a crucial point for crossing the Tien Shan, providing shelter for merchants and protection against robbers. Trade caravans passed through Tash-Rabat to reach the cities of the Fergana Valley. Several legends surround this area. Accommodations are also in a Yurt Camp.
Tash-Rabat to Naryn town.
Tash Rabat - After breakfast, a visit to the caravanserai is possible, with an entry fee of 100 som. Before lunch, enjoy a horse ride or a walk around the beautiful area. After lunch at the Yurt Camp, the journey continues to Naryn town, where civilization can be appreciated after two days in the wild. Dinner is at a local restaurant.
Naryn - Small Naryn - Kochkor
Kochkor - At the end of the day, the journey reaches Kochkor. Dinner can be arranged at the guest house or enjoyed at a restaurant.
Kemin - Orto Tokoi - Konorchek - Bishkek
Konorchek Canyons - For those interested in a two-hour trek, visiting Konorchek Canyon is a fascinating option. This tourist destination in the eastern part of the Kyrgyz Range resembles a miniature Grand Canyon in the Tian-Shan Mountains. Thousands of years of soil erosion have created this incredible site, known for the remains of the ancient volcano Seghizhan-Shokny.
Bishkek - The final destination. In the evening, the journey concludes at the hotel, marking the end of services.
