Bishkek - Burana Tower - Orto-Tokoy Reservoir - Song-Kol Lake
Bishkek - In the morning, the operator will pick guests up from their hotel to embark on an awe-inspiring journey to Son Kol Lake. The first stop is Burana Tower in the small town of Tokmok, located 80km from Bishkek. Travelers will drive along the Kazakhstan border, and if the weather permits, they will enjoy the stunning views of the Tien Shan mountains. Tokmok, once the second-largest industrial city in Kyrgyzstan during Soviet times, still showcases some Soviet monuments. The route passes through several charming villages, offering a glimpse into the local life outside the capital.
Burana Tower - The guide will introduce visitors to the mausoleums and other structures unearthed by archaeologists. Guests can climb the ancient tower for a breathtaking view of the Chui Valley and the Tien-Shan mountains. The small museum on-site displays various archaeological artifacts, and the open-air museum features ancient gravestones, rock drawings, and other fascinating historical items found in the region.
Boom Gorge - Boom Gorge serves as the link between Chui Valley and Yssyk-Kul Lake. The Chu River, one of the largest in Tien-Shan, flows through this scenic gorge. Boom Gorge is known for its diverse landscapes, with wooded and green slopes giving way to arid clay canyons. The gorge’s complex terrain is notable, narrowing and winding in the west, then expanding into a wide valley in the east. A stop for snacks and tea at a local restaurant is planned, featuring national puff cakes with sour cream and tea brewed in a Russian samovar, offering a unique taste.
Orto-Tokoy Water Reservoir - This picturesque location offers panoramic views. From one shore, visitors can admire the opposite shore’s rising rocks and hills, with clouds so low it feels like swimming among them. A photo stop is planned before continuing to Song-Kol Lake.
Kalmak-Ashuu - The ascent to Son-Kol Lake begins here. The scenery constantly changes in color and texture, from rocky dunes to lush hills. Visitors may encounter peacefully grazing mountain yaks, majestic creatures known for their strength. The vast meadows of the pass are home to mountain edelweiss, beautiful flowers that symbolize the mountains and inspire lyrical works. From the highest point, the surrounding mountain peaks and the valley below are visible, offering a breathtaking view of the journey’s progress. The descent is swift, and the anticipation of reaching Son-Kul Lake grows. The journey through Kalmak-Ashuu Pass is an exhilarating adventure.
Song Kol Lake - Around 5 PM, guests will arrive at the yurt camp by Song-Kol Lake. After checking into the yurts, there will be time to rest after the long drive. Free time is available before dinner, and as night falls, a fire will be lit to enjoy the lake and stars.
Song-Kol - Kochkor - Bishkek
Song Kol Lake - After breakfast, the horse riding adventure begins. Riders will head to the mountains to see a charming waterfall. The journey is more about the breathtaking nature along the way than the waterfall itself. The path is long, allowing for rest and capturing beautiful nature photos. On the return to the yurt camp, riders will ascend a hill to enjoy a stunning panorama of Song-Kol Lake.
33 Parrots Waterfall - On the way to Bishkek, the route passes through one of Kyrgyzstan’s most spectacular roads, leading to the Terkey Torpok Pass, which rises over 3000m and features more than 30 serpentines.
Kochkor - A stop in Kochkor village is planned for lunch before continuing the journey.
Bishkek - Upon arrival in the capital city, guests will enjoy dinner at a nice restaurant in Bishkek. Afterward, they will be dropped off at their hotel (not included). This marks the end of an intense but incredible tour. Thank you very much!
