Good experience - There are lots of trips and tour companies to choose from, we ended up selecting InSea, and booked it by click2gothailand.com. The trip was well organised, friendly and fun crew on the boat, the crew were on hand to take photos at each location even at the highest view points and didn't just wait on the boat. There were about 30 people on the speedboat with sufficient space. The included lunch on the fisherman's island was also better than I expected. Overall recommended and a really good day out.

Very enjoyable trip with older teens. - We began with a stop for a bit of snorkling and then went on to the national park. The climb to the summit of the island was rather rough but there were plenty of rest points. The view was definitely worth it though. We also wanted to do some kayaking so had to be reasonably quick to get up and down again with enough time for that. The third stop at the lagoon was equally as beautiful with a much shorter climb. Finally we stopped for a very nice buffet lunch before heading back to samui.
All in all it was a very enjoyable day with enough time at each stop to do what we wanted to. Our guide was very informative and explained everything in detail. Would definitely recommend the trip.

Best decision to book a speedboat - Booking this trip with the speedboat was the best decision! Our crew of boat #6 was great. Other local companies are using longtail boat, there is NO shade, people sitting on wooden seat with life jackets on at all times. When we saw it we almost cried. Go with a speed boat!!! Our boat had ice cold drinks. When we were getting on the boat at the islands and the loading deck was so hot we couldn’t stand on our feet the crew was splashing cool water on our feet 😀

A great day out, really... - A great day out, really well organised and everything explained along the way. All the guides were very friendly and happy to help out with anything. Sit at the front of the boat - much more fun to be outside and not bumpy at all.

A must day out - The day tour was an excellent day out. The prompt early morning pickup to the speedboat. Light breakfast provided on arrival after the easy check-in. The staff were very helpful and informative throughout the whole day. The snorkeling experience was amazing, seeing many different fish and the corals. Next was the ang thong national park. How beautiful and scenic it is. Be warned, the 500m climb to the view point is extreme and not for the elderly or anyone who is unfit, however, once at the top the views are definitely worth it. Onto the next island for lunch, very nice buffet lunch. Next the emerald lagoon, only 100m climb so nice and easy. The steps are quite steep. Some of the more like ladders. Again, worth the climb. The complete day was amazing and definitely value for money. I would highly recommend.

Unforgettable Day Trip – Beautiful Sights & Amazing Crew! - This was an absolutely wonderful day out! Our guide, Thai, and the rest of the crew were fantastic from start to finish. Thai was not only informative and knowledgeable but kept everyone entertained with his enthusiasm and great singing voice. The crew were incredibly attentive, always quick to lend a hand when boarding or disembarking the speedboat, and made everyone feel safe and comfortable.
The snorkelling stop was a highlight – we saw parrotfish, wrasse, rabbitfish, and damsels along with an impressive variety of corals including montipora, cyphastrea, and even wild riccordea. A real treat for marine life lovers!
After snorkelling, everyone was rinsed off with fresh water on the boat – a small but thoughtful touch. For those not into swimming, there was still fun to be had relaxing on the boat with music playing and drinks flowing.
Due to some choppy waters, the schedule was slightly adjusted, but we appreciated the crew’s flexibility. Instead of the hike to the viewpoint , we opted for kayaking around the marine park’s main island. The blue water, slow pace, and stunning scenery made it truly unforgettable. We sipped iced coffees under the palm trees, and were even greeted by a curious monkey looking for a photo op!
We later visited the Emerald Lagoon, and while the hike was short (about 10 minutes), the stairs were steep – a bit of a challenge, but well worth it for the breathtaking view over the lagoon.
Lunch at Koh Phaluai was delicious – a buffet of green chicken curry with rice, salad, crumbed chicken and prawns. We grabbed a couple of Singha beers and relaxed while watching hornbills swoop in for bananas and some photo opportunities.
All in all, this was an incredible day exploring beautiful parts of Thailand. Just be ready for a long day in the sun – pack sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses. The crew kept the boat well-stocked with water and Pepsi, so we were always refreshed.
Highly recommend this tour, and we’re already planning to book their Koh Phangan and Koh Tao trip next time we’re in Samui.
Thank you, Thai and the amazing crew, for a day we won’t forget!

Absolutely amazing day - This was a wonderful day!
Our crew, led by our guide, Big, was fantastic. Big was funny, informative, and kept us entertained with his enthusiasm. I’m not as able bodied as I used to be, and the crew were always observant and quick to lend me a hand for balance or on and off the speedboat.
My husband really enjoyed the snorkelling stop. He said he saw parrot fish, sea urchins, lots of other fish, and beautiful coral. When coming back on the boat, everyone got rinsed off with fresh water. I stayed on the boat but was not bored at all. There were others who stayed onboard and we all hung out in the sunshine taking photos and enjoying the gorgeous location.
Our schedule was slightly altered due to high winds coming in the afternoon, so we headed to the main island of the marine reserve next. I did not go on the hike, and it was too windy to kayak, although that would have been fantastic. Bring your cash so you can rent some beach chairs and buy drinks. We swam in the sea and sat under the palm trees on the most glorious tropical island beach.
Next stop was the emerald lagoon. My husband did the climb but I took one look at the “stairs” up and decided to watch the bay which was amazing (see whale comments below). My husband said I made the right decision. The “stairs” turned out to be more of an erratic ladder. If you are scared of heights I think it’s a skip.
However, on the way to the big island they got reports of whales in the area. Big got very excited! Apparently seeing the endangered Bryde’s Whale is really rare. We found them!!!! It was wonderful! And we spotted them again! And when I skipped the climb I sat in a viewing spot and saw them again!
Lunch was ok. There were hornbills though which was great! And beer to be purchased with cash.
Loved our day!!! If you can only do this or Pig Island I would pick this one.

Closed, Crowded, Chaos, Confused... - We booked this Koh Phi Phi tour to snorkel, swim, enjoy scenic views, relax, and bask in the sun on a tropical white sand beach. It was all in the brochure, including stand-up paddleboards and clear kayaks at no additional charge. Orientation took forever, and the up-sell for tour extras was annoying and overpriced (beach shoes and fins were strongly encouraged).
We were confused and disappointed to learn we would not get to swim or snorkel at the prime destinations. These popular spots were closed indefinitely. Due to over-tourism, the reef was almost destroyed. I commend the Thai authorities for making this difficult but necessary decision to save the reef, but why are we booking a tour to a location we cannot access?
The all-day tour did include two snorkel spots at 20 minutes each, but they were barren wastelands with no coral and a few barely visible fish. Maya Bay felt like a war zone with hundreds of people, boats everywhere, and constant screaming over the megaphone, barking orders not to touch the water. The nature was beautiful, but it was covered with people. It felt more like Disneyland on a crowded day. I realize this wasn't the tour company's fault that the reef was closed, but why did they take us here?
After Maya Bay, packed like sardines, we cruised to a spot where we could swim (snorkeling prohibited). Again, it was just crowded and chaotic. The lush cliffs were amazing, but we were blocked in by all the tour boats, and the smell of exhaust permeated the air. We opted not to pay extra for the longboat ride. If the vibe was more peaceful and meditative, I would have paid the extra money, but it wasn't a relaxing locale at all.
The last stop, Cat Island, was another disappointment. It felt like a tourist trap. We were stuck on a small island with expensive drinks, chair rentals, and beach activities. Like all of our stops, there were hordes of people everywhere. The clear kayak was available near the shore only for five minutes max, and there were no stand-up paddleboards. It was our longest stop, and we were quickly bored. We made the best of it by exploring the rock structures, taking a few pictures, and enjoying an overpriced drink from the bar.
I gave the tour a rating of 2 stars (not 1) because tour groups have no control over Koh Phi Phi's governmental closure. I was just surprised and confused as to why they didn't inform us of the closure before we booked the tour. I would have liked to go somewhere I could swim, snorkel, or dive, not people watch.
