Starting in November, the tour includes observing slipperies and helping them reach the water, protecting them from their natural predator, the crab.
The excursion is conducted in small groups, allowing each guest to witness the entire egg-laying process. Additionally, participants have ample time to take photos and/or videos.
We operate our own Turtlewatch tours and do not outsource to agencies. Turtlewatch is available from mid-July to November!

- Everyone needs to be able to walk in the sand on the beach for some time, so a certain level of fitness is necessary.
- There are seats in the pick-up and also outside on the benches. However, no fixed seats can be reserved inside. Everyone should be able to sit at the back. And of course, children always have the priority of sitting inside.

A memorable experience on a magical beach - A great and moving experience to see the newly hatched baby turtles and to help them in their journey to sea (and avoid the hungry crabs!). The beach is secluded from any artificial light, so it is perfect for turtle spotting. Go in September if you want to see large turtles but seeing the newly hatched babies is more than a worthy journey in itself. Kai and team are fantastic, and also recommend the Boa Vista Grand tour which we also took with her company.

A unique experience for us - For us, the tour was an unforgettable experience. We can only recommend it to anyone. The ride on the pick-up truck through the night was already a highlight. We were allowed to help little hatchlings into the water and save them from the crabs. Great consideration was given to the animals and nature and a good understanding was imparted to the participants.

One-off - It was truly an unforgettable experience. Will have seen many baby turtles and were allowed to put them in the sea. We also got some information and if we had any questions they were all answered. I would do it again anytime.

Super trip to the turtles 🐢 - It started with perfect communication, quite straightforward and extremely nice. My husband and I were absolutely delighted with the tour. A nice group of 12 people. Kai explained so much to us and answered each question patiently about the turtles. We were allowed to be there for the egg-laying and drop off some newly hatched baby turtles in the water. Here, absolute attention is paid to the welfare of the animals. We are looking forward to the next tour.

Fascination & adventure - Through the desert, over sticks and stones, we drive through the nature reserve in the south with the spotlights taped off. After an adventurous ride we stop and walk further into the darkness. Kai explains the nature, the animals and the local conditions. It is not long before we see our first big turtle looking for a suitable spot on the beach to start laying eggs. To avoid disturbing this turtle, we walk quietly past it at a distance. Right after that we find lots of little baby turtles, which we take up and carry to the sea. Because ghost crabs lurk everywhere trying to catch the baby. A little further on we see an adult turtle laying eggs. Quietly and only with red light we watch her until she goes back into the sea. A great excursion with a lot of information and with a lot of consideration for the welfare of the animals. Thank you Kai!

Pure goose bumps... - A beautiful experience that was carried out in a small group and with a lot of love for nature and animals.
We were able to observe a turtle laying eggs and brought baby turtles into the sea.

Pick-up never arrived, waited in vain for two hours. - After reading so many amazing reviews I eagerly booked the tour but unfortunately the pick-up never turned up in the end. After reading all the amazing reviews I booked a place on a CaboKai Guided Turtle Tour, a few days before going on holiday. The booking order form requests you select your hotel from the drop down list and advises you to wait at the vehicle entrance barrier at the alloted time. I was there five minutes early and waited on the kerb for an hour, after which time I asked the gate guard to call the number for CaboKai tours to ask if they were still planning on coming to collect me, but no answer. I was kindly directed to wait in the hotel lobby by the gate guard who advised he would send the CaboKai vehicle up to reception should it arrive. Reception also kindly called their own number for CaboKai Tours on my behalf but no answer on their number either. I waited a further hour before giving up on seeing the turtles. It seems you pay your money and take your chance, either you will experience a wonderful tour as the other reviews describe, or you will waste a night of your holiday waiting in vain. I now commence finding out how I can get a refund. Sadly a disappointing experience.
