Pura Parahyangan Agung Taman Sari Gunung Salak - Parahyangan Agung Temple Jagatkartta Taman Sari Gunung Salak is the largest temple outside of Bali, second only to Besakih Temple. It holds the status of Jagyangan Jagat and was established in 1995.
The temple’s construction at the base of Mount Salak began in 1995, marked by the establishment of a temple at the site of King Siliwangi, the King of Sunda during the golden era of the Hindu Pajajaran kingdom. Initially named Penataran Agung Gunung Salak, the temple features three large gates known as Kori Agung. The central gate, adorned with a dragon statue, opens only for significant Hindu events like Galungan or Piadolan memorials, or when priests from other temples visit. Inside lies the Jobo Jero or Utama Mandala area, the temple’s most sacred space.
Surrounding this is the Central Jobo area, where a statue of Ganesha, draped in yellow cloth and flanked by umbrellas, stands in one corner. From the main Mandala, visitors can enjoy views of Mount Salak. Even during the day, the cool mountain air is invigorating.
- Nangka Waterfall - Curug Nangka, or the Nangka Waterfall, is a charming cascade located in the foothills of Mount Salak, also known as the Silver Mountain. Its English name is The Jackfruit Waterfall. Situated approximately 20 kilometers from the city center and the Bogor Palace, it is about an hour’s drive away. Visitors should be prepared to get wet as they traverse a 50-meter wet tunnel-like path to reach the waterfall.
