Amazing place of dreams - Colombia colombia. Before arriving in Colombia on our trip through South America, many people recommended us to visit the Guatavita Lagoon. It is really an unforgettable place, a place of dreams and a place that combines its natural power with its great history. Cradle of the history of this beautiful country really a place more than recommended is mandatory to visit this lagoon. The village before arriving at the reservoir is simply great.

A Great Day Trip! - This was a wonderful experience and Estefan was a great tour guide! Very informative in regards to the history of the indigenous people and the historical significance of the area when we were at Guatavita. In between we stopped at a lively restaurant, with live music and great food. The Salt Cathedral was an amazing thing to see in person. I did a self guided tour, but Estefan was around to answer questions and talk to as well. The cathedral as a whole is really neat. It’s an amazing achievement that humans carved the whole thing out of the rock. It is a solid 12 hour day. It’s such a unique experience and I’d recommend visiting if you’re traveling to Bogota.

Interesting, fun and comfortable - This was a very full day and a lot for your money. Nestor and Angel were really great. We were in a comfortable coach with lots of space so you could sleep on the way (which I did at the start). The hike was nice and perfect. Definitely not too hard. The salt cathedral was interesting too. I thought it wouldn’t take two hours but there really is a lot of interesting stuff in there.

A Must Do tour - A " must do" trip even though it is a long day and drive from Bogota. Cristian was a patient guide who tolerated our many stops for photographs and rest stops. He gave us a lot of information on the vegetation and history of Guativata in bite sized pieces with time to think about the information. He made the tour of the Salt Cathedral meaningful rather than just another Church or museum.

A fun day - This was an enjoyable tour! It was nice to see Guatavita and the Salt Cathedral in one day. Our guide, Nestor, spoke English and Spanish and was able to translate for our small group (5 total). It is a long day, 8a - 8:15p, being activities for the bus (has WiFi). We met at a Juan Valdez, grabbed coffee and boarded the bus at 8a for a 1.5 hr drive to Guatavita, for a cold, windy, beautiful hike (loop trail) around the lake (2 hrs total) .. Definitely stop to get an area at the yellow house at the end, it was the best arepa we had after a month in Colombia. Another 1hr+ to Zipaquirá for lunch and then to see the Salt Cathedral. It was also impressive, we spent a little over 2 hours part of which was with a Spanish language guide (or audio guided tour for other languages). There's alot of shopping in this area, so leave some time for that. Then 1.5hrs back in Bogotá traffic. An enjoyable day!

A great way to see more of Colombia - It was a lovely day out but very tiring and I think it could have been reduced by a few hours. The hike, nature and lake was gorgeous. The lunch venue was crowded and loud with a lot of meat options. The salt cathedral was fascinating but a bit of a tourist trap. I'm glad I went but would recommend reducing the time alloted for the salt cathedral and allow people to eat where they want and roam freely.
