Embark on a coffee farm adventure, traveling an hour and a half from Bogotá down the mountains to a quaint town situated at approximately 1500 meters above sea level. Here, the chilly Bogotá climate transitions to a temperate and humid environment, perfect for coffee growth. Upon arrival at a coffee-producing farm, guests are welcomed with a freshly brewed cup of coffee. As you enjoy your coffee, you’ll receive an introduction to the farm before delving into the initial stages of the coffee production process.
- San Francisco - The journey begins with seed sprouting, nurturing seedlings, and transplanting them into the field. Visitors will learn about the meticulous care given to coffee plants from the outset to ensure high-quality yields. Next, you’ll explore the coffee crops, discovering various coffee varieties and learning how to select the finest coffee cherries.
After harvesting some coffee cherries, the process continues with washing, fermenting, and drying, tailored to enhance specific characteristics desired by the coffee farmer. You’ll witness both traditional processing methods and machinery that have been in use since Colombia’s coffee boom. The tour concludes with a return to the starting point, where you’ll enjoy another cup of coffee and gain further insights from coffee experts.
Following the farm tour, there will be a stop at San Francisco’s main square for a traditional lunch before heading back to your hotel in Bogotá.
