Amazing Chobe Safari with a Fantastic Guide! - We had an incredible 3-day, 2-night camping safari in Chobe, and it was an unforgettable experience thanks to Gee, our amazing guide. Gee was incredibly flexible and tailored the schedule based on our preferences. During game drives, he coordinated with other guides to help us spot the Big Five — his dedication and knowledge really made the difference.
**Tour Highlights**
Every day on safari brought new and exciting animal sightings. The thrill of chasing specific animals across the Safari was so much fun! Beyond the wildlife, we truly enjoyed connecting with Gee, the team at Katahari Tours, and the other tour participants. It made the entire trip even more special.
**Itinerary Overview**
- 2 nights, 3 days of camping in Chobe National Park
- Day 1: Pick-up from our hotel in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, with smooth support crossing the Botswana border
- Morning river cruise followed by an afternoon game drive
- Day 2 & Day 3: Full days of game drives
- On the afternoon of Day 3, we were assisted again with visas and transferred to our accommodation in Livingstone, Zambia
Highly recommend this tour if you want a well-organized, adventure-filled experience with kind, knowledgeable guides!

Once in a Lifetime - AMAZING! INCREDIBLE! MESMERIZING!
While I'm sure any safari in Chobe would have been a once-in-a-lifetime experience, it absolutely exceeded my dreams. I attribute this to our guide, Leo, who made the entire trip unforgettable. Even though we visited during the off-season, the park was quieter, which actually made the experience even more enjoyable. The knowledge Leo shared with us truly set this experience apart from any others. He is, for sure, an animal whisperer. We had friends on separate safaris in Chobe at the same time, and they didn’t have nearly the experience we did.
The wildlife, of course, was spectacular. We were lucky enough to see tons of baby animals during the off-season, which made it extra special during this time of year. Leo was great at tracking all the animals. We even saw the lion king roar as he woke up for the night.
Camping was very comfortable. The food was great, and there was even a hot shower! Jacob and MP treated us very well back at camp with hot meals and anything we needed.
I highly recommend camping, even if you're not usually a fan. Being able to stay right in the park means you don’t have to leave early, like you do with a day trip, and you get to experience things you wouldn’t otherwise, like hearing the actual Lion King's roar as he wakes up for the night! It was an experience I’ll never forget. I could go on and on about the wildlife, but you'll have to see for yourself when you do a safari with [insert safari company name here].
I’ve done two other safaris but nothing compares to this one. If you are going to Chobe...make sure you go with Leo!

Come to Chobe - Imagine sitting quietly just a few feet from a pride of lions watching them play and sleep. Then watching a large female lion stalking and attacking a giraffe. This was just one afternoon of the two night, three day tour. Other highlights included being surrounded by a herd of Cape Buffalo, seeing a new born elephant, watching giraffes graze quietly, and seeing rare birds.
Our guide, Mr T, took care of everything. Over the course of three days we spotted nearly 100 species of birds. His knowledge of birds was extremely helpful. We also enjoyed his knowledge of the ecology of Chobe and the history of the park.
The food was provided by MP and Jacob. It was excellent. They also took care of our every need in camp.
A brilliant experience.

Trip of a lifetime - We had the most amazing time on this safari! The entire experience was flawless from start to finish. Our guide, Six, was absolutely phenomenal—calm, incredibly knowledgeable, and made sure we had a truly memorable experience. The team was extremely organized, and everything ran like clockwork.
A special shoutout to the two chefs who prepared the most delicious meals throughout the trip—we were blown away by the quality and variety of the food in such a setting!
This safari exceeded all our expectations, and we can't recommend it enough. Thank you for such an unforgettable adventure!

Camping 3 days 2 nights, great experience to recommend! - A great experience with Kalahari tours.
The team is super friendly and competent.
Our guide Thiza really gave himself to find the animals and we were rewarded with many elephants with their young, a leopard and even lion cubs.
Unfortunately we had half a day of rain but rewarded by the encounter with a leopard, it was worth getting wet.
The camp is located inside the park. Sleeping there makes it possible to really enjoy the best hours to see the animals with beautiful light.
The camp team, Bennet and Ponzo, were also great. They cooked everything on the campfire, even bread baked in a bush oven. We were able to enjoy the sounds of the bush during the night, a real experience.
Definitely a stay to recommend!

Book it! - I cannot say enough amazing things about this experience. We chose the 2 night, 3 day Chobe park package. It was highly organized from beginning to end. The meals, the safari drives and the safari boat rides were all so well done. The food out in the bush was prepared daily by Meshack and his assistant Dichcko, and tasted amazing! Did I mention he made fresh bread? Furthermore, we were particularly lucky having our tour guide, Leo, who had a keen sense for tracking the animals, was incredibly knowledgeable and just an amazing person to be around. We were able to see tons of monkeys, hippos, many lions and giraffes, hundreds of elephants, antelopes, zebras and one super cool leopard. I would highly recommend that package, with those incredible staff! It was an experience I won’t forget.

Top 10 Lifetime Experience - Wow. Where do I even begin. We did a December 9-11 safari (3 days 2 nights) although my review would apply the same for the 2 day 1 night safari.
It started off with a 7am pickup and transfer from Victoria falls to the Botswana border crossing where the driver helped us through immigration and handed us over to our fabulous tour guide Leo. He drove us 45 minutes to the Kalahari riverside office and Coffeebuzz cafe in Kasane where we had an included breakfast and another tour guide took us on a several hour River Safari cruise during which we saw lots of wildlife including hippos, elephants, crocodiles, and buffalo among others. We returned to the cafe after the river cruise for an included lunch before setting off around 130 for our afternoon game drive which lasted until sunset around 630 at which time we arrived at our campsite. We had bathroom and snack breaks during the afternoon game drive. This afternoon game drive was life changing. We saw hundreds of elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and dozens of other animals including an incredible 23 different lions, and a very elusive leopard. This was purely due to our very experienced safari guide Leo who has 15+ years as a safari guide. He spotted fresh leopard tracks and checked every hiding spot in the area until we found the leopard sleeping under a bush. The vast majority of the lions we saw that day were also thanks to Leo spotting tracks and following them. All the safari guides regardless of the company they are with stop and share sighting info with each other so you have a huge increased chance of spotting lions and leopards by going with a company vs the self drive option due to their animal sighting intelligence sharing. We saw basically all of the main animals you can see in Chobe on the first day which is quite rare.
One important note: all of the lion, giraffe and leopard sightings came between 4-630pm after the day trippers left and as we campers went deeper into the park. Of note there is only one luxury came lodge (chobe game lodge) on the Kasane side of the park which allows you to sleep in the park, otherwise camping is your only overnight option if you want the sunrise and sunset game drives.
When we arrived at our campsite, two other fabulous staff members, Meshack and Dichcko, had our campsite all setup and supper prepared. Most of the reviews on here don’t speak enough about how good the campsite setup is. Not only does everyone/couple have their own tents but the staff members construct a temporary outhouse where they dig a hole and place a toilet seat on a frame. You then put sand over your business and it leaves no smell or fly issue like usual outhouses. They also construct a temporary shower structure where they hang a bag from a tree and fill it with warm water so you can have a warm shower each morning if you wish. All meals were very high quality for camping standards and very tasty. Our cook Meshack even baked fresh bread over the camp fire for two of the meals. It was a very impressive bordering on glamping camping experience. Warning: There are no fences keeping the animals out but we felt safe and were safety briefed and the workers dealt with the honey badger and monkeys that did visit our site. Leo explained that no animals try to get into your tents similar to how no animals try to get into the safari vehicles but it’s a different story if you were to get out of the safari vehicle or wander off the campsite at night (you might become lunch for an animal if you were to do that)
We started the next morning with breakfast and a 630am game drive that lasted several hours before we returned to the campsite for lunch and some down time before heading out for our afternoon game drive around 3 till 630 (sunset) Nobody can start prior to 630am or end after 630pm although this may vary during the year depending on sunrise and sunset times. We once again saw lots of wildlife on the second day (everything but another leopard) with the best sightings in the early am or late pm when the day trippers were not in the park.
Most only stay one night but we stayed a second night and so our last day ended with an am game drive and then we ended by returning to the Coffeebuzz / tour office in Kasane for lunch and then another afternoon Safari cruise on the river done this time by our guide Leo who got us amazingly close to hippos and elephants just like he got us within feet of lions and the leopard.
Khalahari went above and beyond to make our experience amazing. Definitely a Top 10 lifetime moment thanks large in part to our guide Leo and our campsite staff Meshack and Dichcko.
Of note: How many animals you see will largely depend on the weather when you go and some luck. Once the rainy season arrives (usually in October) the animals drink from water holes deep in the park and don’t come to the river to drink where all the safari roads are so sightings are limited. Whereas in dry season they need to come to the river to drink. Usually rainy season starts in October but Leo told us it didn’t come last year at all (2023) and as of our early December 2024 trip the rains had still not come which played a large in why we saw so many animals. Also this tour company is one of the few that operates year round so we had one person join us for the first night but had a private safari experience for our second night at no extra cost!!
In closing, I can’t recommend this trip enough. See some of my pics for some of the highlights from our trip :)
