Into the Heart of the Okavango

As the small charter plane descended over the sprawling Okavango Delta, I felt a familiar thrill of anticipation. This was my annual pilgrimage to Africa, a continent that had captured my heart and lens years ago. This time, I was embarking on the Northern Explorer Tour, an 11-day luxury safari that promised to be as enriching as it was exhilarating.

Evenings were spent around the campfire, the air filled with the calls of bullfrogs, hippos, and distant hyenas. It was a time to reflect on the day’s adventures and share stories with fellow travelers.

The night drives were a highlight, revealing the secretive world of nocturnal creatures. We marveled at spring hares, honey badgers, and the rare sight of a Genet cat on the hunt. Each encounter was a reminder of the delicate balance of life in this untamed land.
