Worthwhile viewing; ambivalent about tour guide - The dam itself is impressive and worth seeing. (If you want to linger over the museum/historical aspects, this is not the best tour for you. It focuses on scenery and the dam itself.) The quality of our experience was diminished because of our tour guide, Tony. He was friendly and well meaning enough but he also had a few shortcomings: -he offered inaccurate information (he referred to the man-made reservoir in Zimbabwe as being in North Africa), -he was socioculturally insensitive (he told us that the homeless living in the tunnels under Las Vegas were happy there, not having to work or have any responsibilities) -he seemed oblivious as he told us little facts and anecdotes about the places we passed by on the way back, that he had already said the exact same things on our way out -he didn’t ever turn off his mic when he was chatting with the passenger next to him with the effect that the rest of us were treated to one side of a lengthy conversation even though he had promised us quiet. All that said, we could tell he is teachable and willing to change by the way he responded to our suggestion regarding a separate situation in which his vague instructions on where to meet up after viewing the dam led to misunderstanding by a non native English speaker. Tony had not been aware that his instructions were ambiguous but readily saw how they could be misleading when we pointed it out.
