Parc Gerez….wow! - We were delighted by this exceptional day off the beaten track. Gerez Park is beautiful with its nature and its small typical villages. The small steep and winding roads, the small shops, the waterfalls, the view!! Everything was wow. We loved it from start to finish. Teresa was a super nice guide, her driving was also exemplary. Go on! My 11-year-old daughter also loved it.

A perfect day! - A great day, thank you Rui!
Although very hot in the national park, Rui organized the perfect day for us. We are clear in shaded oases, swam in the cool water and jumped from waterfalls, had a nice picnic and a pleasant hike.
Nice small group and lots of information about the land and park.
Super!

Wonderful day with breathtaking views - Me and my friend had a wonderful day with our tour guide, Pepito, who was very kind. He showed us around local villages and told us a lot of interesting stories. This tour is totally worth it when you're visiting Porto. So many amazing views from breathtaking nature here in the national park. We were able to have a delicious lunch full of local Portuguese foods while also taking a refreshing swim during this hot day.
It was the perfect getaway during our city trip in Porto. Recommended!

Wonderful Day Trip - I was booked on a day trip to the Parque Nacional Peneda-Gerês. I had some trepidation at the onset, worried about the difficulty of the hike and was assured by the company that it was a moderate 3 mile hike. I think there might be a translation issue here. Due to the terrain in Portugal, I'm not sure a moderate hike exists. This was indeed tough! After picking up the other members of the group, our tour guide Pedro drove out of Porto north to the Parque Nacional Peneda-Gerês. Along the way, Pedro shared stories of the local history and pointed out interesting sites from the car which was greatly appreciated.
Arriving at a trailhead, the first part of the hike was indeed what I would consider moderate, and enjoyable. It was on the way back up, almost vertical in places, that I thought the end was near. Pedro was absolutely fantastic and was a great cheerleader and guide. Honestly, I couldn't think of a better guide for this particular day.
On the way back to Porto, we stopped at the castle of Guimarãe and it was an excellent addition to the trip!
Thank you Pedro and Detours!

Teresa is awesome! - Teresa our guide was extremely fun and enthusiastic. She brought us to a beautiful waterfall to swim and we had a delicious picnic lunch and another swim by the river. Lots of scenic views and bit of hiking. An overall great day. Pick up and drop off were seamless. Really enjoyed our time in Genes National Park.

Highly recommended tour! - João Dias was our tour guide. He was friendly, informative and organized the one day tour pretty good by taking us to the best spots in the national park for swimming, lunch and sightseeing. A day to remember! Thanks!

Peaceful, Beautiful, and Really Well-Guided - I booked this tour hoping for to escape porto for the day, and explore something new. I was really excited as I am a huge fan of nature and the outdoors. My expectations were most definitely met— mostly thanks to our amazing guide, Rosário.
From the start, he set the tone. He was friendly, welcoming, and had a mix of being genuinely knowledgeable without sounding like he was reading off a script. You could tell he knew his way round and could answer any questions someone in the group had. Whether that was historical events or random facts about how the post gets delivered to the villagers. Rosário also knew which areas to go to be away from any other tourists and demonstrated a enthusiastic attitude all throughout. The tour felt like being shown around by someone who really wanted you to experience it, not just tick it off.
The walk itself was beautiful — peaceful trails, incredible views, and my personal highlight: the waterfall and natural pools. The water was so clear it looked unreal, and our guide gave us plenty of time there to just enjoy it. No rush, no pressure. A few people swam, others just sat on the rocks — there was space for both types of people. Food was provided by a local village. It was a typical picnic lunch, yet the portions were relatively generous.
By the end of the day, I felt properly reset. No overhype, no touristy nonsense — just good company, a guide who genuinely added to the experience, and nature at its best.
Rosário was easy to talk too and the conversation came naturally.
Would definitely recommend if you’re after something calm, beautiful, and guided by someone who clearly loves what they do.

Difficult and demanding hike to waterfalls - This hiking trip was missold to us as a moderately demanding hike by the city centre agency where we were picked up. They did not explain that it was a very challenging hike including steep slopes with no trail to follow.
Your Guide Daniel rightly decidedthat it was not suitable for us and split the group with two joining an off-road tour to complete the hike.
Daniel took the two of us and we had travelled and walked to some beautiful viewpoints and a waterfall. We also toured the Wolf Village.
Daniel was a great and knowledgable guide who gave us a great day in Geres, just not the one we booked for. He could not have done a better job. He was also very enjoyable company for us.
We returned to the Agency at the end of the day to register our displeasure at the trip not being sold properly. They apologised.
However, I have now checked your description of this trip on your website. This refers to a ‘Mellow walk’. I am unsure what this is meant to mean since the definition is ‘mild and without bitterness’. I feel that it is a very poor adjective to describe the very steep and challenging descents and ascents to the falls. On a scale of 1-5 of technical difficulty I would give this hike at least a 4.
I think that you need to be more open and honest about the difficulty of the hike to deter people from booking it who are not fully prepared and properly equipped to undertake it.
